What to Say When You Don't Know What to Say

What to Say When You Don't Know What to Say

Posted by Alex Shipley on Sep 24, 2025

Your GiveSendGo campaign is live—yay! You’ve uploaded photos, written your story, and set your goal. Now comes the part most people aren’t quite ready for: sharing it.

And let’s be honest—that’s the part that feels the most awkward.
Do I sound desperate? Am I bothering people? What if no one responds?
You might rewrite your text three times, stare at a blank caption, or decide to “just wait a little longer.”

But here’s the truth: sharing is what makes campaigns succeed. In fact, the most successful campaigns get 1,400% more views than the average campaign. Why? Because they’re shared early, often, and everywhere.

But you don’t have to overthink it. People love you. They want to help. And when you share, your friends and family will share, and then their friends will share. Even just ten people sharing your campaign can snowball into tens of thousands—or even hundreds of thousands—of views.

Still, knowing what to say can feel like the hardest part. That’s why we’ve pulled together ready-to-use templates for every type of campaign. Copy them. Tweak them. Steal them outright. No judgment.

“We’ve dreamed for so long of growing our family through adoption. It’s a beautiful journey, but the costs are overwhelming and not something we can carry on our own. A Few Tips:

  • Keep it short. You don’t need to include every detail—that’s what your campaign description is for. Just share the essentials and explain why support matters to you.
  • Be honest. If asking feels awkward, say that! Vulnerability connects and people respond to authenticity.
  • Share more than once. Don’t be afraid to post updates—most people need a reminder before they give.
  • Lead with gratitude. Even if someone only prays or shares, thank them. Every response matters.
  • Start close to home. Share first with your friends and family. They’re the most likely to support you because they know you personally. Then ask them to share with their circles to help spread the word even further.

Sharing your campaign isn’t about twisting arms—it’s about inviting others to be part of something bigger than themselves. And trust us, people want to help.

So share early. Share often. Share everywhere. And if you get stuck, just grab one of these templates and hit “send.”

You’ve got this!

And if you don’t have a campaign yet? Don’t wait for the “perfect” time. Go start a GiveSendGo campaign today. You know someone in need of a little help and hope.
