As a mother, my absolute top priority is making sure my children have what they need to thrive. It is heartbreaking when, despite working my hardest, I find myself falling short of providing the essentials they deserve. Being a single mom is a heavy, overwhelming responsibility, and the past 15 months have brought an immense wave of grief, change, and hardship.

I am a person of deep faith. I know God is with me and won’t give me more than I can bear, which keeps me hopeful, but I am also very scared. I carry a lot of anxiety about failing my kids or disappointing them. It hurts deeply, so I humbly ask for grace and no judgment I am simply a mom trying her absolute best for her kids.

With school starting for us on July 27th, and my little princess turning 9 just a few days before on July 22nd, things are especially tight. My heart shattered when I had to tell her we couldn’t afford a birthday party this year. At 9 years old, she doesn’t understand the heavy weight of looming rent and household bills; she just knows her mom said no.

I want nothing more than to send my children back to school feeling confident, prepared, and excited to learn. But right now, the weight of providing adequate school supplies, new clothing, shoes, and backpacks is more than I can carry on my own.

Any contribution—no matter how large or small—is a true blessing that brings us one step closer to giving them the fresh start they deserve.
