Saturday’s tournament will be a fundraiser for AMA 2D Avery Dingus.
He left us too soon but will not be forgotten.
For those that recall Avery from tournaments and get togethers but may not know much more about his story, this is an excerpt from a news story recently done on the tournament.
His diagnosis: Anaplastic Ependymomas grade3
Avery was diagnosed with brain cancer (Anaplastic Ependymoma grade 3)in May of 2021.
He underwent surgery May 18 2021.
The surgery left him dependent on a ventilator, tracheostomy and feeding tube. He received 33 rounds of radiation.
He battled for months to regain his strength… learning to walk, speak and swallow again. He dreamed of returning to the Teakwondo mat again someday.
Unfortunately, the stress from his cancer and surgery put too much stress on his body and Avery lost his battle on December 28th 2021.
