Hi. My name is Luke Mosiman and I am a junior at Arizona State University working on a dual major in SCETL (School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership) and Business Law. I am fighting ASU who is defying the Arizona government by mandating masks in the classroom. I am threatened to be withdrawn if I do not comply.
After ASU established draconian policies this past summer which forced people to wear masks, get the vaccine or regular testing, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued an Executive Order to protect the rights of students at our universities. The State Legislature followed passing similar legislation. ASU is defying state government by forcing students to wear masks in class.
I have been harassed by faculty, asked to leave the classroom, and been threatened to be withdrawn from class. During one class, three ASU faculty members were brought in to watch me so as I would not lower my mask.
However, no government institution will help enforce our state laws. The Governor’s office said it must be settled in court but will not provide the resources. Because no one will step up, I alone am fighting on behalf of students at Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and Northern Arizona University, along with all the community colleges that follow ASU’s lead and created similar mandates. But my family’s limited resources are no match for the legions of lawyers at our state universities. This is just the beginning of oppressive measures our institutions in America will take. I am asking for your help to battle the tyranny and attack on our liberties that our universities are leading. Help me fight back.
Arizona Executive order 2021-15 (6/15/2021)
A.R.S. 15-1550.05.(Effective 9/29/2021).
Any donations above my legal costs will be donated to other college students whose civil rights are being violated by similar mandates.
