Dear Friends and Family,

Our beautiful and courageous sister-in-law, April MacLean (David's wife), who is 44 years young, is bravely battling stage 4 cancer. The road ahead is incredibly difficult, and time is precious. Each day is filled with hope — hope for a miracle, for a breakthrough, for one more tomorrow.

We’re reaching out to our friends, family, and community for support. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to help cover April’s treatment and travel expenses. Every dollar makes a difference and brings us one step closer to giving her the care and time she deserves.

Here's her story:

"In May 2024, I went in for what was supposed to be a routine procedure and woke up in a nightmare. “We couldn’t finish. We found a large mass.” My doctor hesitated, then finally said the word: cancer.

Stage 3C colon cancer. A large tumor had taken over my lower intestine, already locally advanced. Over the next year, I did everything recommended. First came Folfirinox chemotherapy, then 28 rounds of chemoradiation. In April 2025, scans showed no response. The cancer had metastasized and progressed to stage four.

A major surgery was scheduled—a last-ditch effort that removed part of my intestine and liver, along with a total hysterectomy. The tumor had already begun invading nearby organs.

Less than 90 days after what we hoped was a successful surgery, scans revealed more cancer growing aggressively, spreading to additional organs.

My doctors have now moved me from curative to palliative care with a very poor prognosis. I’m waiting for clinical trial enrollment while trying to grasp what it means to be facing what could be my last days with my husband, children, and community.

The most important lesson I’ve learned through this is that I can only survive it mentally and spiritually by fixing my eyes on Jesus. As the news has gotten worse, I’ve seen clearly that putting my hope in anything fallible breaks my spirit.

As we enter this next season of treatment, my hope is to explore options that are more integrative and supportive to my body. Chemo toxicity is brutal, and it will take a radical approach to caring for myself to handle whatever comes next."
