My name is Allison Royal and I am a newly independent journalist originally from Los Angeles, California. Up until late 2021, I worked as corporate television and media reporter for years, reporting everywhere from the Midwest to San Diego, California.
I've worked with some wonderful, hardworking people over the years in every newsroom, but there has been a burning desire to independently tell stories I know I can realistically only tell on my own - ones that corporate news conveniently buries. I'm not alone, either.
After experiencing firsthand some of the ironic issues with the current news model that oftentimes censor, silence, and barely scratch the surface, I realized I would never be able to truly question anything working for the big-name corporate news machine controlled by lucrative advertisers, corrupt pharmaceutical powerhouses, and government puppeteers. To be blunt, corporate news has a suffocating obsession with COVID. Now, I'm launching my own independent news adventure - a dream that's been rolling around in the back of my head for about a year.
I've enjoyed the career and the people I've met along the way, but our freedoms are at stake. The old school news model isn't working, at least not for me. It's time for New School News.
"New School News" will disrupt this flawed old model that tells people what to do instead of merely telling people about something. We're going to finally talk about all the things we're not supposed to talk about. My work prioritizes free speech, critical thinking, fresh perspectives, the wellbeing of families, and uncensored dialogue. I won't try to pass off an opinion of mine as unbiased fact - I'll be transparent about my own beliefs.
So, how do I fund a journalism platform without big-name advertisers that control content and ultimately our entire lives? That's the question I've wrestled with. In order to bring power back to the people, I believe the only way is to be funded by the people. All of my content will be free. Yes, free! What a dream. However, this stuff costs money. In order to eventually achieve the production quality I'm accustomed to, I need to invest in quality camera gear, a variety of microphones, lighting, editing software, etc. Turns out, it's not cheap. If you are in a position to please donate, I would appreciate it immensely. Your generosity means the world. Every dollar gives oxygen to authentic storytelling without propaganda. I will only be accepting donations here from individuals, not special interest groups, politicians, tech giants, etc.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I promise to always be loyal and ~ Royal ~ to the people.
P.S. As you can tell by my main image, graphic design is not my God-given talent. Storytelling is my speciality.
