The US Department of Justice defines sex trafficking as “the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, obtaining, patronizing, or soliciting of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age.“ Italy is one of the largest centers of human trafficking, with twelve times as many trafficking cases than that of the United States*. As believers we are called to love and care for the defenseless, which is accomplished through both the public and private sector. Alba Safe House and Recovery Program in northern Italy exists to provide refuge, facilitate restoration and recovery, and to reintegrate to freedom women who have been abused by the trafficking industry. 

Psalms 82:3-4: “Defend the defenseless, the fatherless and the forgotten, the disenfranchised and the destitute. Your duty is to deliver the poor and the powerless; liberate them from the grasp of the wicked." 

This past summer, through donations and prayers, I was able to walk with those coming from abuse and trafficking backgrounds through the ministry of Alba. The Lord blessed this, and Alba has asked for me to return in the same role. 

Through Alba, would you join with me in reaching those who have been sexually exploited? I will again serve in the residential personnel role, working to aid in the path of recovery and restoration for women through building relationships, engaging in one-on-one discipleship, and training in daily activities.

First, would you join me in prayer? 

Pray for wisdom and guidance as I work with my team and those who have sought refuge and healing at Alba. 

Pray for the women of Alba to break free from the darkness of commercial sexual exploitation and awaken to newness of life, finding hope and healing in the light of Christ. 

Pray for the sex trafficking industry to be destroyed, and justice to be served.

Praise the Lord for His good purposes and ultimate justice and care for the weak and destitute. Psalms 146:9 reminds, “The Lord watches over strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, but He thwarts the way of the wicked.”
