My 13 year old son has been the beneficiary of a wonderful organization in Southwest Indiana called Trail Heads. They build community bike parks, provide education and training to teach kids to ride, and even provide refurbished bikes to kids who can't afford one. He has developed a passion for mountain biking and we owe it to these amazing people who volunteer their time and money to make it all possible. Each year in May, they hold a fundraiser for the organization, called the May Bike Rally. This was Owen's second year participation in the May Bike Rally and his second year as top fundraiser. He had a goal to ride 200 miles in the month of May, and he did achieve that goal.

At the end of the Rally, they have a grand prize drawing for a new bike. Owen didn't win last year. This year, he talked all month of his desire to gift the bike to his friend if he won, as he already had this type of bike. He learned after the live drawing on June 2nd that he didn't win this year either. The winner was a woman from a neighboring bike club, who had actually won two years ago as well. One of the organizers contacted her to ask if she would possibly consider giving the bike to one of the boys that was the top earner this year. She did not hesitate and said yes! She was offered compensation for her generosity, but declined, saying she just wanted to help the kids. Owen knew he didn't need the bike, so he was excited to share with his friend that he was going to get the bike. It was certainly an emotional moment!

Our families both were so touched by this woman's generosity, that we wanted to gift her money for the bike. This took on a new sense of urgency when we learned that she did not have a working vehicle. We were determined to fund her repairs. Then came the news that the van had over 300,000 miles! On Saturday morning, I was awakened with the thought that we had to not just repair her vehicle, but replace it! God had placed it on my heart and I knew I had to find a way. She is very humble, so I am not sharing her name. She is the angel who gifted a $1600 bike when she obviously could have used that money.

Our goal is to raise $20000 to be able to provide her with a reliable car. She is a single mom with 3 daughters, who has volunteered countless hours to make her community bike park a reality. She also made a young man's year by donating the bike she won. The donations will go to the Trail Heads organization to be distributed to her.
