A Plea for Dignity and Mercy for the Victims

Home to Congo: A Plea for Dignity and Mercy for the Victims of Violence

The Heart of the Story

Beloved brothers and sisters in faith, we come to you with heavy hearts to share the story of two families shattered by the shadow of hatred.

In the wake of the recent, brutal anti-African attacks currently making headlines across South Africa, our community has lost two hardworking souls whose only "crime" was seeking a better life for their children. Today, we are not just asking for funds; we are asking for an act of mercy to help us return them home to Congo for a dignified burial.

The Victims: Lives Cut Short

  1. Maman Edith Bosengela Bomoyi, 32 years old: A vibrant, hardworking hairdresser. She was a pillar of strength for her three children—two young twins and a tiny 8-month-old baby girl. She was a mother whose hands were always busy making others beautiful, now leaves behind three orphans who will never feel her embrace again.
  2. Papa Israel Kazadi Mwitaba, 41 years old: A dedicated electrician. A man of skill and labor who spent his days bringing light to others' homes. He was a father and a provider, taken from this world by the very people he lived amongst in peace.

They were targeted and brutally killed by vigilante groups during the height of the recent xenophobic unrest. As the news cycles move on, these families are left with the cold reality of loss and the mounting cost of repatriation.

Our Mission: A Journey of Dignity

In our faith, we believe that every soul deserves to rest in peace among their kin. The cost of transporting our brother and sister back to the Democratic Republic of Congo, along with the funeral arrangements and support for the orphaned children, is a mountain we cannot climb alone.

Our Goal: $5,000 (USD) / R90,000 (ZAR)

  1. Repatriation: Transporting the remains from South Africa to Congo.
  2. Dignified Burials: Traditional ceremonies to honor their lives.
  3. Emergency Support: Immediate care for the 8-month-old baby and the twins left behind.

A Call to Action

"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."

We appeal to your humanity. Whether you can give $10 or $100, you are helping a grieving mother and a hardworking father find their way home. You are telling these three young children that their parents’ lives mattered and that the world is still capable of love.
