Hebrews 13:16

I do not usually do this, and would not if I didn’t feel moved to do so. On our way home from breakfast Monday morning, my husband and I noticed a lady walking in the rain. She had on a work uniform, and appeared to be exhausted from walking, so we stopped to offer her a ride (which is something I’m not quick to do). She was very thankful, as she explained she had been walking from Liberty, headed to Hardee’s in Pickens for her shift. We asked her why she was walking so far to work, and she said had a car, but the motor had blown. She continued to explain that she is a single mother, and is just unable to afford another vehicle at this time. Fortunately, she has been able to work some shifts at the Liberty location, but also has to go where she is needed. When we dropped her off, we left our names and number, in case she needed a ride home that evening. I never heard from her, but kept thinking of her, so I texted to see if she needed a ride (in case she didn’t want to ask). Thankfully, someone had given her a ride home, due to the rain.

Faye told me that we were truly a blessing, as she’d been having such a hard time, and has been ready to give up. She said it seems that the harder she tries, the more she falls. We asked her if she would be offended if we shared our interaction and tried to get some help for her. She agreed and was very thankful.

Y'all, I have been where Faye is; a single mother who is doing everything she can to keep afloat. A single mother who tried, but was hit with a brick wall with every effort it seemed. If it weren’t for my mother, I’m not sure where I would’ve been between working and trying to raise my girls. Car trouble was a situation many, many times. However, I was blessed to have never been left walking. It’s sad to see anyone struggling, but to see a mother walking such a distance in the rain to work, speaks volumes about how far she will go, and how hard she will fight to do the best she can for her family.

Please, let’s come together as a community and help her! What a blessing it would be to be able to help her get another vehicle. She needs us, and we need to show her she has a community behind her who wants to see her succeed. She deserves it. Her children deserve it. If you’re able, even the smallest amount will help. If you can’t help financially, there is power in prayer!!

-Also, may I add that my husband and I had to turn around on the way home after breakfast that morning, as we’d needed to stop by the store..had we not needed or remembered to turn around, we wouldn’t have passed her. I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, that was an ordained meeting. I don’t know how we will be able to help, but I do know I wouldn’t be at peace if we didn’t try.

Thank you all, and GOD BLESS YOU!
