A grandmother and full-time caregiver is asking for help after a household disaster wiped out her kitchen, her basement, and the craft income she depends on.

Lois has spent years building something real. Every season, she set up at local craft shows with finished handmade goods she’d spent months creating — pieces that people actually bought, work she was known for, and an income stream that helped her household stay afloat. That work mattered, practically and personally.

At the same time, Lois has been the primary caregiver for her husband, who suffered a stroke and has since been diagnosed with dementia. Years of finished work and sourced materials, destroyed.

She contacted her insurance company. She reached out to the city. Neither would cover it. She was left with the damage, the bills, and no path forward on her own.

Right now, Lois cannot use her kitchen sink. For someone caring for a husband with dementia, that is not a minor inconvenience — it directly affects her ability to manage his care and her own.
