My name is Sara Brady. I am a mom of 4 and a wife of a police officer.
I was arrested April 21, 2020 in Meridian, Idaho for taking my kids to a playground. I was taken to the local jail where they have let out 300 inmates due to Covid. I was booked in, charged with trespassing, and let out on a $300 bond.The State of Idaho has been prosecuting me going into the 3rd year. I have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars, near $18,000 to attempt to legally defend myself for being in a open area of the park. The Idaho courts have set two trials dates and then suspended both those trials, preventing me from having access to the courts to be able to defend myself even though I am guaranteed this right in the Constitution. It seems they want to bankrupt me into pleading guilty even though I was never in a closed off area of the playground. After my 2nd trial was cancelled, I financially couldn't afford to pay for anymore lawyers. I was devastated but I couldn't plead guilty for something that wasn't true! The Attorney General of Idaho, Lawrence Wasden, who is in charge of my case, refuses to drop the charges. He has been quoted as saying "We’ve been ready to try that case since day 1”. The State has no intention of doing the right thing and that's where I need your help! I have found a lawyer who is willing to raise Constitutional issues in my case.
