It is with immense sadness that we must share that Phelan Rumley died unexpectedly on Friday morning, September 9, 2022. He was doing what he loved to do - spending time with friends - when he climbed a tree to watch a beautiful storm roll in. Unlike the million other times he made a similar ascent, his descent was unsuccessful.

To know Phelan was to love him. He was impossible to keep on the ground, even as a little kid. Many of my fondest memories include him being high in the sky, climbing fences, trees, mountains. . .quite literally anything he could get his hands (and feet) on. As kids one of our favorite games was ‘don’t touch the ground tag’ and Phelan was often the winner due to his unequaled determination and fearlessness.

In the wake of this unexpected tragedy, my brother Garrick and I, along with our spouses, have set up this fund to allow us all the opportunity to support Morgan through this unimaginable loss. We ask that you share this with those who knew and loved Phelan. I believe he would want us all to band together, love one another, share his memory and take care of Morgan. He was the best, and she was his favorite person.

Visitation will be held at this upcoming Friday, September 16th, 4-7pm. (12925 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd, Apple Valley, MN 55124))
Memorial Service will be held at this upcoming Saturday, September 17th, 12pm. (12925 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd, Apple Valley, MN 55124) There will be a live stream available for those unable to attend (link will be added once available).

Morgan and the families request that anyone attending wear bright and vibrant colors. Phelan told many of us that he wouldn't want black at his funeral. Please continue to pray for Morgan as she continues to grieve her best friend.

With gratitude and love,

Bridget Rumley Cup (Phelan’s older sister)
