After nearly two decades, leaving my childhood dream job was tough. Being a news anchor was rewarding and I loved feeling so connected to my community. But between 2020 and 2021 I couldn't ignore the changes in the industry anymore. The impact of social media was making news more sensational and divisive, reporters were being asked to do increasingly more-hurting quality journalism, and objectivity was being gleefully traded in favor of corporate interests. News felt less like a service to the community by delivering information, and more like propaganda/following advertising directives.
I called up my New York agent and told him I would no longer need his services. I couldn't do it anymore. Taking that step of faith to break free has been challenging, but a blessing. After about six months of trying to find my voice in independent journalism, I'm at a crossroads. I've resisted asking for help, but now realize I can't do this alone.
I've been really blessed to have had opportunities to contribute to other platforms - helping me to provide for my family during this huge transition. What I'm asking for now is to help me ramp up my efforts. It's not in my budget to travel to important meetings and rallies I feel I should be covering. Any money raised will be to help cover the cost of air travel, lodging, and perhaps photographer/security expenses.
If you'd like to see me get out there and continue pursuing the stories mainstream news won't cover - to be a voice for the voiceless (those aggressively censored & ridiculed) please consider making a donation. If not me, then please support another independent journalist. It's increasingly difficult for us to go up against "the machine."
Thank you for your support and continued prayers! What a great God we serve! I'm eternally grateful He's brought me this far and carried me every step of the way. Thank you Jesus!
