On Saturday, January 18, 2026, Karen Hall Fatizzi was admitted to the hospital and received life altering news: the meningioma brain tumor she had removed four years ago is back and growing aggressively. As one can imagine, a brain tumor is debilitating both mentally and physically. Karen’s neurological team is preparing to perform extensive surgery on both sides of her brain to remove the tumor.

The complexity of this surgery means Karen will require significant physical and cognitive rehabilitation afterward. During this recovery period, she will be unable to work. As a dedicated elementary teacher for the past 20 years, she has faithfully served students and families in the Orlando area. Karen has always given her heart to her students, but the copays and out‑of‑pocket medical costs will far exceed what a teacher’s salary can support.
