Hello, my name is Joseph. I live in a home that is a foot underground. I was a first-time home buyer and was informed of any issues this house possesses. However, this house has a history of flooding.  I have lived in this home for 5 years now, and up until recently, I have been lucky. A few puddles here and there during rain showers.  But it has gotten progressively worse over time. I have been losing my sanity with this house and am quite literally living in fear of the rain. If I learn that it will rain, my whole mood will be thrown off. Any plans for that day will be cancelled as I have to stay home and ensure I do not flood. I am newly married to a beautiful wife under God, and we wish to start a family. I can't wait to bring my first child into this world.  But in the state of this house, we cannot bring ourselves to do so.  We can't bring a child into a home where we fear the rain. 

On the evening of September 11th, 2024, it rained heavily for 3 hours straight, which caused water to aggressively seep from under my baseboards. This continued even after the storm had passed and I was up until 7am using my shop-vac, sucking up the water and dumping it outside. I was exhausted, I got sick, and it was a precursor of what was to come.  I have tried every method to prevent water from entering the home.  Sump-pumps, french-drains, etc. But when the water table rises, I am helpless to fight against it. 

Fast forward to October when we got his by hurricane Milton. My house flooded and I lost everything. I was grateful to have assistance from FEMA, but their assistance only went as far as replacing furniture and appliances.  Homeowners' insurance is of no help as they do not assist with floods. And Flood insurance won't help, as other homes need to be impacted for it to be deemed a flood.  Unfortunately, my home is the only home on the block that deals with this. I've reached out to numerous grant programs, but none of them can help.

It is through this level of desperation that I turn here for help. I have worked with dozens of contractors to find a solid solution, and we finally have our solution. We plan on raising the floor 6", which will put us above the maximum height of the water table.  The whole project comes to just below $25,000.
