Our Story and What Happened

I am Roderick Suzara, a 61-year-old Person with Orthopaedic Disability and a father to two young daughters.

I started working in Japan as busboy and in six years time I climbed my way up to restaurant manager position. I saved enough money and came home and built a graphic design business with my brother that fed our family for almost fifteen years.

But when my brother died, the business died with him, and I had to start over as an ordinary employee.

Then in September 2025, I was unfairly dismissed from my job without any warning or due process, and just like that, the income stopped while the bills kept coming.

Here in the Philippines the job market favors the young and able-bodied applicants.

Who would want to hire a senior citizen with a disability when there are younger and even better qualified candidates? So eight months in without a stable income I am still unemployed despite sending applications to dozens of companies, and with my savings completely gone and bills steadily coming in, everything started to unravel.

Triple Twisters: Three Crises at Once

Crisis 1: Jobless 61-Year-Old Dad and Family Faces Eviction

The eviction letter has arrived, we owe five months of rent and must pay by July 1, with no money and nowhere to go.

Crisis 2: My Wife's Health

My wife is already battling breast cancer since early 2025, but last year the stress of our situation triggered a stroke, and now she needs medical care we cannot afford because we have no HMO and no insurance, and watching her suffer while I cannot pay for her treatment is a pain I cannot put into words.

Crisis 3: Our Daughters' Future

Since we could no longer afford the tuition at their previous private school, we transferred our two daughters, ages thirteen and eleven, both consistent honor students throughout the years, to a more affordable school that still offers them a good education.

But with no income coming in and our bank balance at zero, even their education is now at risk because we cannot guarantee them daily food and fare money just to get to class, and without that they face staying home again, withdrawn and disheartened the way they were before, and that is something we refuse to let happen to them because life has been hard for us, but it should never have to be this way for young children.

A Leap of Faith

Everything we built from hard work is collapsing all at once, and I cannot carry this burden alone anymore.

Today I humbly come to the doorways of your hearts to ask for help as I can no longer carry this burden alone, I have two young daughters to feed and their immediate future hangs in the balance, I have searched for work and knocked on every door I know but heaven seems to be quiet and we are now at the very edge of losing everything.

But we believe in divine intervention and divine appointment, and you reading this is not a coincidence. We have asked God for help and maybe He has blessed you to show His mercy on us through your kindness, and if the Holy Spirit has touched your heart right now, please help us, even the smallest gift would be a blessing beyond words.

We are not asking for a hand-out.
