I have been asked to help resist Hastings mosque’s planning application to extend by 300 sq m.

The mosque would dominate the site area in the heart of this lovely old seaside town.

They say that: “Over the next five years, it is anticipated that the number of people using the mosque will grow by at least 180, reflecting the ongoing development and vibrancy of the local community.”

There is no parking provision, so visitors could increase traffic conflict and parking pressure on adjacent streets. Which are already congested, and where the application admits “invariably only the occasional space can be found during the day”.

Local people are rightly concerned, especially about additional traffic in this congested area, and the harm to local amenity.

I am asking you for donations toward the out-of-pocket expenses of £2,000 to resist it.

As usual, none of the money goes to me, but to the costs of fighting this application.
