The Desperate Need for Literature and Leadership Training in Africa

Operation World informs us that there are now over 600 million people in Africa who claim to be Christians. The number of Christians in Africa is set to double by 2050 when, if present trends continue, our continent is expected to be home to 1.2 billion Christians! There is phenomenal church growth in Africa, but the challenges that over 100 million churchgoers in Africa do not yet have a copy of the Bible, or even a New Testament. Most of the pastors and Africa have no formal Bible college training. Most pastors have no access to a library. Study Bibles are rare and some pastors do not even have a full Bible. Africa's greatest and most urgent need is Bibles and Bible teaching

Over the last 25 years, participants of the GCC have come from as far afield as Australia and America, Britain and Botswana, Canada and Congo, Ghana and Germany, Namibia and New Zealand, Malawi and Mozambique, Sudan and South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Frontline Fellowship pioneered missionary work in war-torn Mozambique and Angola in the 1980s and in Islamic Sudan since 1995. Frontline Fellowship succeeded in smuggling over 750,000 Bibles and Christian books in 24 languages into war-torn Islamic Sudan and trained many thousands of pastors, teachers, chaplains and medics in Restricted Access Areas. Back to the Bible Mission has adopted our Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey books as textbooks. The University of the Orange Free State Missiology department has called on Dr Peter Hammond to lecture on numerous occasions this year and has adopted our Greatest Century of Missions as a textbook. The Great Commission Handbook is designed to be a Biblical, historical and practical guide to empower Christians who are serious about Missions to be more effective in cross-cultural evangelism and discipleship, church planting, making disciples teaching obedience to all things that the Lord has commanded. This strategic printing project needs sponsorship to enable us to have sufficient quantities printed and distributed to Bible colleges, mission stations and congregations throughout Africa. There is a tremendous hunger for literature and a tremendous need for leadership training throughout Africa.
