Volunteer Trip to Kenya

Campaign Created by: Jacqueline Skinner

Goal : USD $1,183
Raised : USD $ 1,183

I felt that the Lord was leading me to cancel a vacation I had booked for the fall because I knew that I needed to invest my time and financial resources in His Kingdom! Within minutes of this happening, a friend approached me and asked me to considered going to Kenya to do some mission work with another friend we have out there. I immediately knew this was God opening a door for His Kingdom. Whenever He shuts one door, He opens another right behind it.

I will be venturing out with some friends to Kenya, the end of May to work alongside of Devon, a young woman in our church (New Hope Chapel), who has been in Kenya for a while now after feeling Gods call on her heart to move her life overseers. I am inspired by her obedience to God's commission to spread the gospel.

During our 12 day visit. We will be staying at her guest apartment, about 3 hours from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where we will fly into. Our days on the field will consist of getting involved with the two organizations she volunteers for: Pink Elephants (a school for special needs children) and Nathan Hall Williams Center (special needs children).  We will also have opportunity to volunteer at the school she works at teaching English lessons and ministering to the children there. These organizations will allow us to see firsthand the educational system in this Kenyan village and serve the children in a special way. We will be doing much more during this trip, this is only the big picture, 4 months out.

Here is how my costs break down:
Airline Ticket: $800-$1000
Housing: $100 ($10/day for 10 days)
Food: $200  (includes all 12 days of travel)
Tourist Visa: $50
Donation for ministries there: $250

Vaccinations: covered by insurance
Spending money: I will be providing myself

My goal is to raise $1600.

My past 2 mission trips I have been on were with big organizations and what makes this trip VERY different is that I know the person I am going to serve alongside of. She is faithful part of my church and She has been faithful on the field in Kenya. I now have the opportunity to be an instrument in her ministry on the field in Kenya and I am very excited and thankful for that!

Please consider praying  and financially supporting me.
Thank you,
jacqueline

LOCATION & TRIP ITINERARY:
We will be in the city of Nakuru, Kenya. It is the 4th largest city in the country, 3 hours Northwest of Narobi, the country's capital. Nakuru is a cosmopolitan city with nearly 310,000 people. I'm looking forward to exploring and being an instrument of minisry in this city.

In addition to the two special needs organizations we will be working with during our trip, we will also be working with a Christian-Kenyan family who run a baby orphanage, as well as missionary friends of Devon. There's going to be alot to see, do, experience during our time on the field. All of this will be done in the name of  Jesus with a servant's heart.
