Art was taken from this earth far too soon. Anyone who ever stood in a room with him knows he had a way of lighting up the space around him. He carried warmth with him — in his smile, in his hugs, and in the way he made everyone feel seen.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Jessica, and their three little boys, all under the age of nine, who will grow up missing their dad every single day. He also leaves behind five older children who loved him deeply. The loss is unimaginable, and the void he leaves in their lives is one that can never be filled.

Art was a truly special person. Whether you spent five minutes with him or many years by his side, you walked away with a story.

He was kind. He was generous with his time. He never expected anything in return. He simply showed up — again and again — for anyone who needed him.

He supported fundraisers across the state of Texas helping families and communities in times of need. A lot of people met him through his work during the flooding in Center Point and Kerrville. Art kept the Challenge Coins he was gifted during that time in his backpack and it traveled with him everywhere. 

Art even shared his passion on national television on the Food Network. He had big dreams and an even bigger heart.

His passing was sudden, and none of us were prepared. In the midst of this heartbreak, we want to surround his wife and children with the same love and support that Art so freely gave to others.
