My heart aches every time I think about missing another moment with my kids. As a husband to an incredible wife and father to three amazing children—two of them by birth, one by love—I’ve lived through countless joy-filled moments these past few years. But there’s this constant shadow looming over me – the relentless pain from degenerative spine disease that has left me housebound for too long now.

It all started four years ago when I first felt those sharp, unexpected jolts of agony in my back—life was never quite the same after that. The diagnosis followed: a spinal condition so severe, it threatened to upend everything about who I am and what I love most – being there for my family.

Three years ago, I underwent surgery to correct a two-level lumbar fusion hoping for some semblance of normalcy. Miraculously, those three months brought welcome respite from the pain that had plagued me daily. But as time wore on, the condition worsened again and so did its demands on my body – demanding more rest than engagement in any activity with them—my daughters playing dress-up or building intricate Lego creations; our stepson laughing hysterically during movie nights were moments I often felt I missed out on due to pain.

Now, facing another surgery that could potentially alleviate the agonizing pain once again and enable me to return to work as a provider for my family—I need your help more than ever before.
