Thursday, October 11, 2018. John Hathaway died suddenly this morning. After years of beating the odds against his Marfan Syndrome complications, he suffered a seizure, and died. I knew John and Mary primarily online, through Facebook, but we have several real life mutual friends who verify that my experience of John and Mary as faith-filled, devout, devoted and kind people is consistent with what they know in the local community. John was grounded in his faith, well-informed, level-headed under testy circumstances, articulate, wise, and kind. He was also a patient sufferer of pain and health complications and the wearying reality of knowing more about his rare health condition than most of his health care providers. . . . Put it all together and you have a man who was, in common vernacular, a walking saint. I suspect not only colloquially.
Mary and the kids are reeling from their loss. The family is devoted to one another, and John is much beloved by them all. They also face difficult practical adjustments; numerous health issues within the family (one of the kids inherited John's Marfan Syndrome, but the others have a different connective tissue disorder) have their resources streched to the max, and the loss of John's disability income will make things even tighter.
Will you please prayerfully donate to help Mary cover not only the final expenses related to John's death, but also the family needs for a duration?
And keep them in your prayers!
God bless and keep you --
