We come to you with humble hearts and a prayerful spirit, asking for your support during a difficult time for our family and our beloved dog, Nickel.

Nickel is our joyful, three-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier Mix—loyal, loving, and full of life. She’s more than a pet—she’s a blessing from God and a cherished part of our family. She comforts us when we’re down, brings laughter to our home, and is especially gentle with our grandchildren. Her sweet spirit reminds us daily of God’s unconditional love.

Nickel’s story is one of survival and second chances. She was rescued as a puppy from a kill shelter in rural Mississippi. She had been left behind, overlooked by many, and was on the list to be euthanized. When volunteers found her, she was curled up in the corner of a back alley, clutching the only “companion” she had—an old, smooth pet rock she carried with her everywhere. That little rock was a symbol of her resilience and innocence, and she still has it today.

When we brought Nickel home, we didn’t just rescue her—she rescued us. She quickly became a source of joy and healing in our lives. She is gentle, loyal, and full of life. She’s especially patient and affectionate with our grandchildren, who adore her.

But today, Nickel is hurting.

After weeks of limping and visible pain, Nickel was diagnosed with torn ACLs (anterior cruciate ligaments) in both knees—a painful and debilitating condition that makes it difficult for her to walk, run, or even stand comfortably. The veterinarians have told us she will need two separate knee surgeries to repair the damage and restore her mobility.

Nickel’s first surgery is scheduled for July 22, and we are doing everything we can to meet the financial goal in time. The total cost for both procedures—including consultations, imaging, anesthesia, post-operative care, and physical therapy—is over $14,000. As a retired middle-class Christian family, we strive to be good stewards of our resources, but this unexpected expense is more than we can bear without help.

We are trusting God to make a way—and we believe He works through His people.
