Recovering Past Bill Costs To Pay Current Bills

Hope to raise $4,000 to recover some of my past 2019-2022 medical-related out-of-pocket bills of over $4,000! Given my 2025 annual income of $15,908, I am unable to recover past medical-related expenses through saving, begging, and so on. About 75% of those $4,000 costs paid for my out-of-town transportation to meetings related to my last five surgeries, my pre-surgeries and my post-surgeries, and other medical gatherings not done locally.

My 2021 annual pension income was under $14,000. So that income meant that I, then as a 70 y o Senior, made in 2021 about 74.5% of the income a single person living at our Official Poverty Line would make. Indeed, I am still a Single Senior Citizen whose income is so small that I actually qualify for some 2025 Welfare! During 2017-2022, I had six medical operations, one locally. So this fundraiser hopes to recover that $4,000 in out-of-pocket expenses from my last 5 out of town surgeries in 2019-2022.

Should I manage to raise that $4,000, my plans for those recovered funds include:

(01) Raise My Household Heat Back To 2021-2022 Winter Indoor Temperatures To About 70F, As My Winter 2024-2025 In House Temperature Level Is Now 64F, For I Can No Longer Afford To Fully Heat My Winter Home;

(02) Get A Telephone, For I Dumped My 2005-2021 Phone In August 2021 In Order To Pay For Other Bills;

(03) Purchase More Paint, So I Can Finish My Half-Painted House - please see above photo - Last Fully Painted When House Built in 1975;

(04) Purchase A New Kitchen Stove To Replace My 1975 Stove Whose Oven Stopped Working In 2006;

(05) In My Washroom, Install New Floor To Replace The 2017 Damaged Floor And Also A New Throne To Replace The 2021 Damaged One;

(06) Get My 1975 Bathtub Cold Water Tap Replaced So That I Can Resume Taking Showers, Last Taken In December 2021;

(07) Get A New Micro Wave Oven To Replace My 1998 700W Micro Wave Oven;

(08) Pay For Future $90 Trips Outside My Town For Future Medical Issues;

(09) Perhaps Reinstall My Badly Axed TV Service Back To 2021 Levels When I Last Enjoyed Cable TV News And Also Being An Informed Citizen;

(10) Fix Up My Broken In House Lighting, In My Since 2006 Kitchen Area And In My Since 2004 Living Room Area;

(11) Purchase A New Hot Water Tank For My House;

(12) Replace My Made In 1972 Clothing Washing Machine;

(13) Pay For Any Other Emergency Expenses Made Necessary By Owning An Old Home.

When I originally wrote the above in 2023, I had just paid two regular bills. (1) A $50 Bill to fix my pedal bicycle's 24th flat tire since January 2008. (2) A $720 Bill to maintain my household fuel to help keep me warm. That $720 fuel bill, at $2.18 a Litre or $9.91 an Imperial Gallon, filled my home's fuel tank to 30% of my tank's capacity! At this price, my full monthly Seniors Pension check pays for 69% of a full tank of home heating fuel!

That is why I am asking, inviting, petitioning, and praying for your help, in the form of either a direct financial donation to me, or indirectly, by informing others of my situation so that they might also help. Or you could help both ways?

While I Am A Glass Half Full Person, At This Point, I Would Like To Share With You Some Of My Somewhat Sad Story Which Bought Me To This Moment ...

Born May 1951 in County of Renfrew, Province of Ontario, Canada, in town where I again live. When I was 2.5 y o in November 1953, my parents' first home completely burnt near the Eastern Ontario Hamlet of Combermere, where our farm shared a fence with the internationally known Madonna House Apostolate - please see Wikipedia.org. My parents lost everything in fire, but each other and me! My baby pictures and parents' wedding pictures are gone. We lived the rest of that 1953-1954 Winter in our farm's Creamy Shed. The next August 1954 we moved 60 miles (100km) eastward to a farm in same county's Township of Admaston, about 6 miles (10km) from where I now live. That was my second move to a 3rd home. Unknown to me then, but a further 38 moves from home to home, mostly from rental room to yet another rental room, awaited me in my future life.

Started at a rural, single room, eight grades school in township in October 1957 as I could not speak English in September 1957. In June 1968, when I was 17 y o and living in my 4th home while attending high school, my walking 13 y o sister was struck and killed by a car driven by a Friday afternoon alcohol consumer. My brother, who was at the accident, turned inward but found comfort when becoming a Born Again Christian, my dad put away his three cameras and stopped taking photos - his last ever photo was of his only daughter's body lying in her coffin, and so our family album ended, I stopped liking cars - never did buy a car - and drank little alcohol, while my mom went into shock, got MS or Multiple Sclerosis, and slowly died from the disease over 21 deteriorating years at the age of 64 in June 1989, 21 days short of 21st Anniversary of sister's death. As mom digressed, when I was 25-38 y o, I visited her on weekends as I lived 100km from her. So I never married. However, happily, I am again looking for a partner as of May 2019, and I remain committed to this goal.

While in all three levels of school, I never, ever finished a timed exam in 1957-1982! My learning disability, not acknowledged during my days as a student, caused the problem. So my marks were largely Cs or some Ds. Failed but one course in high school, Typing, due to my slow typing speed. Tried overcoming the disability by asking for and getting assistance in high school. That special penmanship tutorial failed.

Homework nights were a challenge; I went to bed about 4 am while in 1965-1971 high school, with most homework done. One now retired police officer still thanks me for helping him pass math, since he always borrowed my math homework before that day's math class. Indeed, two future police officers, one future health care worker (recently deceased), a future real estate agent, and a more irregular user of my homework, a future First Nation Chief, all borrowed my 4 am completed math homework.

My learning disability slowness was taken to my workplaces. My slowness haunted my entire working life since first starting to work for pay at 25 cents an hour in 1966 and throughout my future 16 jobs. I grew unhappy with how I did the job, always too slowly, so I sometimes left that work. I twice left a position with the Government of Canada since I believed that my learning disability slowness, and thus my decreased job productivity, was just not a good value for the Canadian taxpayer's investment in me. In one of those two jobs, my pay was high enough that I briefly lived in the Top 20% of Canada's richest single people. Thus My Lifelong Bottom Line Was, No Whatsoever Job Satisfaction For Me!

Yet, there was life satisfaction for this lefthander! Did OK with untimed school essays, although they took me 2-4 times longer to write than you might need to write up that very same essay. And I still have the sores to prove that claim, after all my sitting and writing! One of those essays was good enough to get published in an academic journal, thus leading to my Top 20% job.

Then disaster! During 1996-2016, I was forced to withdraw from paid employment to fight my diagnosed depression during the supposedly best income earning years of my working life, when I was aged 45-65. My best guess is that my health suffered as I had low levels of disability income - about $800-$1000 a month - when I fought depression for those 20 years.

I retired in May 2016 with no savings since it was against our law for me to save! Did get a family estate, but the tiny cash portion of my 45% inheritance is gone. All I have left is my inherited residence, valued at about $150,000, so it no longer qualifies for a Canadian CHIP. My 14 times stabbed surviving brother got the cash 45% portion of the estate, while The Lord's Church was assigned the remaining 10%, about $40,000, as my parents were deeply religious. Indeed, I never should have been, as mother's Plan A was to become a Church Nun, no husband, no kids!

Here is my reported to Government of Canada income during 2015-2021. Here is my 2016-2021 Pension Income and my final year on Disability Income in 2015-2016. In late 2016, I got my small cash inheritance, while 2019 was a significant year in that I stopped my depression medications, paid for my funeral as allowed by law, and started my search for a partner.

Now a Retired Senior, I do volunteer work for 8-16 hours a day as my learning disability demands that, else I would never get anything done. I now work on things I love. My 5,500 pages on JFK's 1963 death progressed in 2005-2018. My 200 pages effort at an e-book on human history began in 2020. Still work on supplementary tasks emerging from my 1996 M.A. Thesis. However, my biggest time consumer is my "Family Friend Project". Have completed about 2,200 tasks at about 4 hours for each task unit since about 2012. Delivered 120 finished tasks to my hospitalized over 17 years family friend in my recent delivery and another 100 should be delivered in 2025. Incidentally, family friend's ongoing health issues were featured on a local CBC TV 6pm News Programme in February 2025.

Should you be able to help this lifelong single with some aid of any level, my appreciation for your generosity is very, very genuine! And such donated funds will be used cautiously!

In 1946, press journalists quoted the then Baseball Manager Leo Durocher (1905-1991) then with the Dodgers, later the Giants and the Cubs, as saying "Nice Guys Finish Last". Maybe so, but you could strike back against that famous Durocher quip with some assistance. Again, my sincere thanks! .... And Also My Thanks For Reading This! ... Love Jim
