Michael McReavy's car was totaled in the accident. Michael is our Senior Pastor and has been tirelessly service our church for three years now. Michael is 36 years old and is married with four young children. His medical bills and the car replacement are the major concerns for their family right now. Michael had his two week post surgery appointment today. His surgical wounds are healing well despite one that was wanting to reopen a bit. He still has continued pain in his tailbone, hips and ribs. These come from simply standing, sitting or coughing and are more of a shooting pain. His back has a dull lingering pain but that is to be expected as he continues to heal from the fusion surgery. He is planning to preach on Christmas Eve so prayers that his preparation for that and that his stamina endures through the service.

He is in good spirits overall but really misses picking up and playing with the kids. His surgeon gave him a physical therapy referral so that he can begin some movement exercises and stretches after the holidays are over. His next appointment will be in 4 weeks and will include an X-ray to see how well his fusion is healing.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for us as we navigate this season! we have been so encouraged by how many people have come around us to lift us up during this difficult time.

Michael was discharged from the hospital last night just before the snow started to fall. It was so nice to have him home and the kids were very excited for their dad to be back under the same roof as them. His colonic ileus subsided on Friday and he was able to hold down some food and do some stairs with the PT personnel. The hospital was at full capacity and on redirect for some time so with Michael’s progress they discharged him. He is unable to much of anything on his own still. His followup appointment will be in two weeks with his neurosurgeon and will have other appointments as well in the coming weeks.

One particular issue he is looking forward to being resolved is his broken crown on his molar from the accident. The remaining piece of crown has made if very uncomfortable to eat, drink or talk because it cuts his tongue when he does.

Michael is continuing to recover in the hospital. He has a colonic ileus which is a segment of his intestine that hasn’t woken up and begun to work following surgery. He also has a heightened white blood cell count that they are searching for the cause of. He will have to continue fasting for the next few days because of the ileus as anything he eats or drinks is coming back up. He’s been converted to all IV medications as a result. He is headed for another round of CT scans today on his chest and abdomen to check for further fractures, infections or anything out of the ordinary.

Prayers that his intestines would fully wake up and that he could begin eating and having regular bathroom visits.

Prayers that the doctors can find the source of the heightened white blood cell counts quickly.

Michael came out of surgery around 8pm Tuesday night. He had 8 screws and 2 rods put in fusing from his T11 to L3 vertebrae. He is still in a great deal of pain but thankful that the threat of further neurological damage is no longer looming.
