Automated External Defibrillator Campaign To Save Lives

THE KIWANIS CLUB OF HAWTHORNE, CALIFORNIA IS RAISING FUNDS TO BUY MORE LIFE SAVING AEDs FOR OUR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS. PLEASE HELP!

In the last year many of us have witnessed or heard about athletes collapsing during a game from a cardiac arrest. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) has proven many times to be a life saver.

The Kiwanis Club of Hawthorne is on a mission to make sure each of the athletic departments in our local high schools have enough AEDs to cover multiple events that may take place.

These high schools have some AEDs, but their campuses are large or the team could be at another school so if a heart emergency occurs, critical time could be lost while transporting the AED unit to the athlete on the football field, baseball field or gymnasium, for example.

The Kiwanis Club of Hawthorne’s goal is to raise $20,000 to fund the purchase of FOUR AED devices for each school: Leuzinger High, Hawthorne High, Hawthorne Math and Science Academy, and Lawndale High. When seconds matter these additional lifesaving units will provide trained members of the athletic departments with vital tools in the event a lifesaving emergency occurs, when seconds matter and are so precious.

Our supplier for a period of time has generously locked in the cost of each defibrillator unit at $1,250, a discount of over 20%.

A donation of $1,250 will buy one AED Unit, but we cherish any support you may provide. Please help us protect the lives of our irreplaceable youth.

The Kiwanis Club of Hawthorne Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization and donations are tax deductible.
