A big HELLO to all of my friends across Facebook. You may or may not know that, recently, I have been having drawing classes on Monday mornings with kids from Rinala Khurd, Pakistan. Even though I have been an artist all my life, it still amazes me how the simple act of drawing can bring so much joy and fun with only a pencil and a sheet of paper.
But this page is not about them, it's about another group of kids that I am involved with on Sunday mornings. In addition to Monday art classes I am now teaching the bible on Sundays to another group of kids in the city of Sawhiwal in the province of Punjab in Pakistan. I would also like to get properly set up to do art classes with them as well. Since this a "fund raising" page, you may already know what is coming next and that is to ask for donations to pass along to this group of kids.
As I'm sure you know, Pakistan is not a rich country and these kids do live in poverty and that is just the way of life for them. They most likely will never escape it. But just because that is the way their life is, it doesn't mean they don't need some help, I am working with a man named Michael Riaz in Saqhiwal who oversees the care for these kids and he is asking for help with food, clothing (especially shoes), Bibles in the language of Urdu and FANS. Saghiwal is a lot like Tucson except a hotter. When summer hits, they will experience temperatures around 120. In addition to the items listed above, I would also like to get them art supplies such as paper, pencils, markers and paint. my art class in Rinala Khurd is having a lot of fun drawing and it is a great respite and distraction from what life is normally like for them.
My goal for this funding is $1.200.00. I am not just looking at current needs but also needs down the road. The kids eat a lot of rice but they also need vegetables. They definitely need fans and lots of them but if they have the resources, I would like for them to have an air conditioner. If there is a sudden need for medicine I want them to be able to get what they need.
We are so blessed to live in a country where even our poor live a much better life that the kids in Pakistan. I hope you will consider what you have and give a small portion to my kids. You have heard it said Do it for the kids! You may have thought it is just a ploy to yank at your heart strings to encourage you and manipulate you to give and you may be right. As for my request, it is genuine because I see these as my kids and the need is very real.
I sincerely hope you will give what you can to help,
