Hi, my name is Alirio Chacin. I am a Venezuelan violinist studying Music Performance at UW-Madison under Dr. Dawn Wohn's teaching. Music has been a significant part of my life since I was about twelve years old, and I've been studying it ever since. From the moment that I began my musical studies, I have been drawn to it by the intricate details of this beautiful art form, and I have always been looking to learn and grow more as a musician. Moreover, it's one of the few things I was able to bring with me throughout good and bad moments after having to leave my country, making it a significant part of what I consider my identity to be. Since music has played a significant role in my life, I aspire to continue learning and growing to one day inspire and have a positive impact on others. So, to further develop my musicianship and achieve my goals, I applied to the Rocky Ridge College intensive Music Festival (https://www.rockyridge.org/) that will be held this summer beginning on June 6th and was accepted to study in the String Quartet Intensive with Karoly Schranz, founding member of the Takács Quartet with a full scholarship.

I am raising funds because due to unforeseen circumstances I am currently unable to afford the travel expenses which include:

-Plane tickets to and from Denver International Airport

-Shuttle Bus transportation to and from the airport to Rocky Ridge Music Center

These are some examples of the work I have done as a violinist. The following videos are from my college sophomore recital on May 10th:

1. Pampeana Op. 16 -With pianist David Pham: https://youtu.be/BC66xZPEWlQ

2. Beethoven Piano Violin Sonata no. 5 -With pianist David Pham: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QLtoZeV6-E

Thank you so much for your support and your generosity. I appreciate any amount that you can contribute to my musical journey.
