Retired narcotics K9 Marcha of the Hardeeville Police Department was struck by a car after escaping her fenced-in yard on Sunday, March 12th. She was rushed to the emergency vet. After all the testing and scans, we were told that due to her age and pre-existing arthritis, there was no guarantee that surgery would be without complications or make her pain free. We made the extremely difficult decision to end her suffering. After the veterinary team’s care we were left with $2,700 in veterinary expenses. We know that Marcha had lots of friends and touched many lives and are asking for contributions in helping us with her medical expenses. If our goal is reached anything over that will go towards helping other K9 handlers with medical expenses after their retirement.
