What’s this for? These funds are desperately needed to provide Brett and his family the ability to cover monthly expenses while ongoing issues / matters are underway and/or awaiting resolution. Monthly expenses such as Mortgage, Food, Utilities etc.

It was important for us to note that since his NF2 Diagnosis in 2015; Brett has not applied for, nor received any government or private funding assistance of any form. In addition, following his most recent diagnosis of a rapidly growing Meningioma; Brett was required to wait approximately 7.5 months for government assistance (due to current circumstances outlined below).

As many family and friends are aware, Brett underwent Brain Surgery on August 18, 2022 to remove a brain tumour, specifically referred to as a Meningioma. While Brett’s surgery was relatively successful, he unfortunately continues to wait for his Surgical Follow-up prior to being cleared for driving and potentially to return to work* (should ongoing efforts to obtain short / long term disability be unsuccessful).

Unfortunately, given the ongoing / current circumstances in our health care; medical procedures that Brett required were either postponed, delayed or rescheduled. These same circumstances contributed to a ‘misunderstanding / confusion’ with Brett’s doctor’s when they were requested to sign his application for short and long term disability resulting in the deadline passing without the paperwork being signed or submitted for approval. The hope was to have this matter addressed prior to surgery; which unfortunately was not possible.

As such Brett remains waiting which current indications appear to indicate the earliest his surgical follow-up will take place will be sometime in the coming New Year; approximately 5 to 6 months following his surgical procedure.

At this time after extensive discussions with my Dad, Brett; given the current circumstances; has agreed to a Crowd Funding campaign in the hopes of

Providing critical TIME that Brett desperately requires while awaiting his surgical follow-up which is required prior to his return to driving and possibly work.
Providing critical TIME that Brett desperately requires to assist in reducing stress which, we understand; is imperative to his recovery.
Potentially provide time to obtain a resolution to short / long term disability requirements.
