The adventures keep coming. My husband who is a Combat Veteran, lost his job when the little shop where he made lovely confections closed it's doors. Then he got a physical labour job that closed it's local doors, but allowed him to commute 3-hours each way to stay employed. He has some physical issues, but works hard to support his family. We had hoped to start looking for a home nearer his new job over the summer. Then came the news that our landlord sold the home we were living in, so we had to scramble to find a new place to live with only a few weeks notice and a month and a half of the school year left.

We found a house through a rent to own program, and right before signing discovered the house had a mold problem so perhaps buying a house you find online isn't the best plan.

We were then blessed to find another house in a different community (still 3-hours from our current home) much closer to his job. He took a day off work so we could drive there and check it out along with two other options. We put everything and then some into the fees and added cost (the seller raised the overall price by $10k, because we're wanted to move in so quickly.

We were blessed again with the expeditious transfer of our son into the local public school from his existing school right in the middle of state-wide, standardized testing. The ladies at both schools worked together to make possible a seamless transition with no missed days in between.

That left me to pack and load then unload one house and storage shed into another over a distance of approximately 200 miles... We had planned to use a borrowed van and trailer to but those fell through at the last minute. The folks who offered to help with the move also had other commitments come up at the last minute. We thought we could use my vehicle and try to pull a trailer with that, but the "check engine light" came on and we didn't think that would be a good idea. Then his motorcycle decided to get in on the act (we only have one car). It started leaking oil and having running issues. We were afraid it wouldn't even make the trip. He uses the bike for (usually)  less expensive commuting and "wind therapy" a physical stress relief utilized by many Veterans.

We rented a U-Haul, but somehow didn't get the 200 included miles plus $0.40/additional mile deal were had seen online. He did not realize that until we went to return it and were told we owed a daily rate plus $0.99/each mile with none included. We thought we'd spent about $450 to rent the U-Haul. The total due at return was over $1100. We didn't have that. Our account is now overdrawn and the U-Haul dealer has told us we have until next week to come up with the rest of the money due him. We used more money on fuel as well, because we budgeted for (U-Haul said) 10mpg ... We averaged 3mpg. It was two trips in a 26' U-Haul truck and we still had to leave many things behind that I was unable to load on my own in the allowed time frame. We couldn't afford for him to miss days of work.

We currently have no fuel in the family car. The motorcycle caught in fire. We have approximately 25 cans of food. Nothing cold made it. The deposit for the electricity was $500 just to have power turned on (we will get that back in 9 months if we have no late payments). We missed the car payment because we thought the U-Haul was more important in the immediate, but now we owe two month's car payments as well.

The washing machine decided now would be a good time to stop working, so I'm trying to put together enough quarters to keep my husband and son in clean clothes for work and school. I'm looking for work locally, but don't have fuel to run around and apply.

I'd prefer to work online as that would allow me to be home with my son as summer will soon be here and he'll need some supervision, but I'll do what is necessary for my family ... Just as my husband will continue to do.

The truth is, we're very blessed. Our daughter graduated with honours in the height of the 2020 pandemic and is now away making plans to start an amazing ministry for battered and abused women. Our son is (for the most part) healthy. My husband does suffer from combat related PTSD (but does not receive services) and has extreme anxiety disorder, but he recently acquired a new service dog (she's in need of training)🙄. I have post-concussion syndrome, so I'm not quite as employable as I once was, but I'm blessed by the knowledge that with all the things I've forgotten, my faith is deeply rooted to a place where memories are superfluous.

I know it sounds like the misadventures just keep coming, but His eye is on the Sparrow and I know He watches over me (us).

We do have major financial needs that we had been working on plans for over time. Dave Ramsey's course was the basis for our plans, but the shortened timeframe make that impossible to implement.

If you are able to bless us from your own abundance, we appreciate it. If you are able only to offer prayer coverage, we won't reject that either.
