Honoring Douglas John Kantor with a New Education Fund

Austin mass shooting: 1 dead, 13 hurt, 1 of 2 suspects at large, police say

My son Douglas age 25 was shot and killed along with 14 other innocent victims who were seriously injured on June 12, 2021, in Austin.  This tragedy was the result of gang members engaged in a ruthless shoot-out on a crowded street.

Doug was in Austin with 2 childhood friends that evening, celebrating his recent graduation from the University of Michigan from which he earned his MBA four weeks earlier.  Doug worked for Ford Motor Company while earning his MBA.  He was a motivator and a leader.  He gave all of himself to his family, fiancé, friends, co-workers, as well as strangers who were blessed to cross his path. He believed that everyone has value and purpose. It became his personal mission to help people find that in themselves. He always showed respect, compassion, and kindness to everyone, regardless of their status or background.

Doug especially valued education, and he would be honored to help others like himself-- those who have a passion for knowledge and self-improvement-- to receive a college education.  To honor Doug's beautiful life and spirit, I am setting up the Douglas Kantor Education Fund to help others like him.  I greatly appreciate anything you can contribute in honor of Doug, to help other young men and women like Doug obtain an excellent college education. If you were lucky enough to meet Doug, you know how he glowed with kindness and always had a big, welcoming smile.  Let's continue to share his brilliance with those in need!
