CBMC, Christian Business Men's Connection, is blessed to call Sergei our friend. He participates in the Collegeville Connect3 Team and other meetings and events in our mid-Atlantic area and has been going through Operation Timothy with Scott.  Over the past four years we've come to know and love him.

We've organized this campaign page to provide some needed care and encouragement to the Nuissl family during this difficult time.  Please prayerfully consider how the Lord would have you fill this need.

On behalf of the Nuissl family, we are truly thankful for your generosity.

Sergei's Story

* * * * *

A wonderful musician, teacher and Christian friend - Sergei Nuissl - has been stilled by COVID, yet there is hope with his new care team at Kindred Hospital Philadelphia. Help keep that hope funded, as his wife, Li-Ping, can work only part-time and his sick day allowance and healthcare with the Philadelphia School District may soon come to an end.

* * * * *

On December 13, 2021, Sergei was admitted to Lansdale Jefferson Hospital in Lansdale, PA, with COVID. By January 13, 2022, he was on a ventilator. Within two weeks, he was given a tracheotomy and a feeding tube, followed soon after by a chest tube to address some lung injuries due to the ventilator.

By February 25, the care team at Lansdale stabilized Sergei by reducing his dependence on oxygen and pain medications just enough to withstand a transport to Kindred, which is tucked within a neighborhood at the corner of Palmetto and Devereaux streets just inside the Philadelphia city line. Pulmonary, wound care, diet and pharmacy specialists set to work on Sergei with their own proven regimen. Already Sergei is being helped in a whole new way.

Li-Ping has assembled her own "family" of helpers and friends to contribute time and talents to support her in the absence of their son, just a college freshman, and sisters, who are in Taiwan and Canada.

===>  Li-Ping needs now to be supported by the generosity of others’ prayers and giving.  Please share your best for this family, so that, whatever the result of care and outcome for Sergei, Li-Ping and their son will not be economically devastated.

WHAT is needed and HOW you can help

Many have graciously asked how to help Sergei and his family.  Here you will find the what and how to go about doing so.  All funds raised through this campaign will support the family as described below.

If you would prefer to provide a gift by check, please make it payable to Li-Ping Chao-Nuissl and mail to:

Li-Ping Chao-Nuissl
c/o Scott Newcomer
64 Pheasant Lane
Pottstown, PA 19465

What:  Income supplement

How:  Monetary support

With Li-Ping able to work only part-time, Sergei’s sick day allowance ending, and his salary being reduced with the Philadelphia School District , the family’s household income is decreased.  Support to cover the continued living and travel expenses would be such a blessing.

What:  Support and encouragement

How:  Prayers and cards

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for the family.  If you would like to bless them with special words of encouragement, mail your cards to:

Obituary for Sergei P. Nuissl

Praise Him with the tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute Psalm 150:4

Musician and teacher Sergei P. Nuissl, of Collegeville, died March 7 in Kindred Hospital of Philadelphia.

Born in Barre, Vermont, July 29, 1958, as a son of the late Wilhelm F. and Elizabeth M. Fedjajeff Nuissl, Sergei was raised along Philadelphia\'s Main Line, and graduated from Lower Merion High School. He studied music at The New School and Temple University in Pennsylvania, eventually earning his music education credentials from Immaculata University. Sergei was a dedicated member of the Philadelphia School District Music Department and made an impact in multiple schools for more than a dozen years.

Sergei was a musicians\' musician, performing regularly with the Kennett Square Symphony, the Reading Symphony, the former Pottstown Symphony, at countless area churches, and with trios and quartets at local venues. He cultivated additional talents with private student lessons and summer music camps. Sergei participated in and supported church mission trips, contributed his talents to fundraising concerts and activities, and donated to many charitable organizations. As a member of the Christian Business Men\'s Connection, Sergei sought out like-minded individuals to share experiences and gain valuable life lessons. With his generous and giving spirit, he was involved with Focus On the Family and the Voice of the Martyrs.

Sergei and his wife, Li-Ping, and their son, Enoch, each talented musicians on their own, enjoyed performing together whenever they were available. The family traveled extensively, absorbing the cultures and tasting the foods of some 15 different countries. An important event was that he was baptized in the Jordan River in Israel in 2019. Sergei also maintained aquariums full of lively fish; one tank a whopping 55 gallons. He enjoyed chess with Enoch, a Liberty University freshman, and card games with friends and family.

Sergei is being remembered by his family and friends as a dedicated follower of our Lord, loving, fun, romantic, generous and honest.

In addition to his wife and son, Sergei is survived by his aunt, Johanna Fedjajeff, Passau, Germany; three cousins, Wolfgang, Bernhard, and Albert Steiner, of Germany; three sisters-in-law, Li Juan Chao, Taiwan, Li Mei Chao,Canada and Ming-Lin Tang, Taiwan ; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his half-brother, William DeBlois Nuissl, and his brother-in-law, Fuji Chao.

Update #5 loving Facebook memory and the funeral home link
March 16, 2022
facebook twitter

Here is a wonderful reflection of Sergei from Molly McGlone\'s Facebook account:

\"We lost a dear member of our community on Monday, strings teacher Sergei Nuissl, who passed away after contracting COVID. He was a really dedicated teacher and built up programs at Henry C Lea, Decatur, Girls High, and other schools around the district. He was a great mentor to Penn students who would assist him in lessons and he really made the strings programs at his schools come alive, in part because he was super organized. Our concerts and the sounds filling the halls of Lea Elementary will not be the same without him. He was a very devout Christian and when we lost the beautiful Mouhamed Cisse to gun violence in 2020 Sergei made clear that he believed that this earth is just a stopping ground to a better tomorrow with God. I hope he is at peace now from the pain of our world. He made a big difference in the lives of many Philadelphia strings players, musicians from the University of Pennsylvania, and I benefited from his dedication, patience and really good pedagogy. He will be missed.\"
