American legion post 903 is home to the Monroe County Joint Veteran‘s honor guard which has provided military funeral Honors for over 600 local veterans.

We are also responsible for replacing American flags on veterans graves at 12 local cemeteries and maintaining the veterans war memorial in Tannersville Pennsylvania

The Thomas Bowditch Veterans Education Center and Museum will serve as an opportunity to pay tribute to the 41 million Americans who served in 308 military actions of the last 245 years. Through it’s realization, we will educate the community of the hardships this nation has endured to secure and preserve the liberties we so cherish.

The lower level of the museum will house a missing man caf’e  which will provide a venue for veterans families to host bereavement luncheons, free of charge. The  space will also provide a drop in center for veterans to share their mutual experiences find comfort and heal from their injuries both seen and unseen.

Adjacent to the museum we will create a hub for veterans organizations including the American legion post 903 home, Monroe County Honor Guard, Operation Chillout (Homeless Veteran Outreach), Korean War veterans Association and Disabled American Veterans Association.

Additionaly, for our veterans struggling with housing insecurity, we will provide short-term emergency housing

Our funding needs or twofold. First, repairing both historic structures and bringing them up to code by replacing outdated HVAC systems, wiring, windows, insulation, drywall and making sure the facilities are ADA compliant.

The second will be to create appropriate displays to preserve the artifacts forHistorical and educational purposes.

restoring and preserving the 113 year old former Saint Mary on the Mount Parish Church and Rectory in Mount Pocono PA, provides the needed space to honor and remember the sacrifices made by millions of Americans who have served our nation.

Additionally, these historic structures will be home to an educational center, gathering hall, café,  multi multiple veteran organizations, and provide a much-needed emergency shelter for our homeless veterans
