Most children fall asleep dreaming about tomorrow. Some nights, Daylani falls asleep crying from pain.

Daylani is a brave 6-year-old girl fighting a condition that prevents her body from properly fighting infections. Because of her immunodeficiency, even minor illnesses can become serious for her.

She lives with a constant cough and frequent infections in her eyes, skin, throat, and airways — even mosquito bites become infected. She also suffers from headaches, exhaustion, and frequent sickness. Recently, she has also begun developing a painful skin condition where parts of her skin are starting to peel and become irritated.

The pain in her legs and feet has become severe, and doctors now suspect arthritis, inflammation in the tissues that connect her muscles and bones, and are also evaluating her for possible lupus. She must undergo specialized testing and repeat studies every three months to understand what is happening in her body.

Some nights the pain becomes overwhelming and she wakes up crying, unable to sleep. No child should have to endure that.

Because of her condition, Daylani has missed school, time with friends, and even her kindergarten graduation — moments she had been so excited for.

Her family is doing everything possible to keep her safe, but the cost of medical care, medications, and travel out of the city — and sometimes out of the country — to see specialists continues to grow.

We are asking for help so Daylani can continue receiving the care she needs and, with hope, return to learning, playing, and simply being a child again.
