Hello Everyone!

I have gotten myself into quite a pickle. My 2002 Chevy Prizm with 300k miles, has an engine oil leak, the catalytic converted has died, and it's burning through about 1 quart of oil every fill up (about 300 miles).

Obviously, it wouldn't pass smog back in October of 2022 when the semi-annual registration was due. I had no idea that if your car didn't pass smog, that after 6 months of non-registration, the CA Highway Patrol can tow your car away - never to be seen again.

The state does give you the opportunity to spend $650 towards getting the car to pass smog, which I have done, and after that if the car doesn't pass again after repair you can meet with a Referee to see if they will allow you to continue driving the car. Hence, granting you a registration tag that will be good until the next time you need to pass smog... don't even ask what happens then.

I have met with a Referee. I have a second appointment scheduled for mid-July to see if they will give me tags. Even if they do, my mechanic says I'll be lucky to get another 10k miles out of my car before the engine dies. So, I'm using the miles I have sparingly in anticipation of purchasing a new used car soon - with all your help.

Many of you are saying, "Lorien, you have a good job, and you can surly afford new car payments." Well, I hedged my bets the past 12 years on UFO CON to make a profit which I could use to make a small down payment and I would get a car loan through my credit union. Sadly, UFO CON has cost me from 3k-10k each year of my own money. Not to mention the 20-30 hours a week of work I do for all my projects for which I have never been paid. I could have held down a second job or gotten 2 more bookkeeping clients all those years and have no financial worries - but I didn't; I dedicated my time to UFOlogy, Conspiracy and the JFK Assassination.

Stupidly, (yes, as a bookkeeper I know better...) I took out Credit Cards from 3k-10k each year to cover the conference expenses and am now in deep credit card debt. I had hoped my credit union would give me a car loan with a very small down payment, but good used cars are now around 20k, and my credit is lopsided - too many credit cards/too much debt to income ratio.

The prospect of me losing my car, which will lead to losing my job, which will lead to losing my house and becoming homeless is not what I had in mind for my 66th Birthday coming up in August.

So, I decided to swallow my pride, and ask my communities (you) to help me. I am hoping to raise 20k to purchase a decent used car. If I raise this amount, I might be able to purchase a newer car!

Every moment I'm not working my regular job, I am working on something for the communities. I hope you will support me. At 65 years old, I just can't imagine being homeless and losing everything I own. I truly doubt that the Angels and God had me being homeless - at my age - in mind when they sent me back to Earth telling me, "You have work to do!"
