I worked hard labor for 10+ yrs and with periods of unemployment(not my choice) throughout the housing market crash and subsequent recession. I turned 18 at the end of 2006 in SW FL in Lee county where the recession hit the hardest in the whole country. It was so bad that it was one of the 1st places Obama visited in 2009 after he was elected. Just Google why did Obama visit Fort Myers FL in 2009? My dad was a carpenter contractor. Our family was greatly affected by the Great Recession and housing market collapse, me most of all. Long story short for 10+ years I did hard and strenuous labor for years before becoming a truck driver 8 years ago. I worked at a hydroponics farm that grew different lettuces and herbs, automotive service tools installer and warehouse worker, stucco laborer, drywall hanger, day laborer and I did stucco laboring for a year straight before becoming an over the road truck driver. And before doing any of that I was doing wood framing and carpentry for my dad starting at 14 yrs old. I became a truck driver and after 4 yrs of relationship and health issues I took a break. When I started trucking I said to myself I'm not going to worry about gaining a little weight, I'll lose it later, I've done it easily a couple times in life, and I'm going to focus on driving my tail off and putting my fiance and her kids in the most comfortable position I can for now. She had put up with a lot from me and vice versa and her kids had not really had the chance yet in life to live comfortably and have their own rooms and TVs and have money to do things. My parents moved around and ended up living near Dollywood and me and my ex moved a few miles away and rented a 4 bedroom double wide with a living room and den with fireplace. The 3 teen boys went from sharing a bedroom to each having their own. And not only from the recession and issues I was having in life but also from their mom allowing her sister and her kids and boyfriends to move in periodically and us sharing a house and bills with her friend and her kids already they basically had to all 3 share one room for 5 yrs, sometimes sharing with our roommate's 2 boys as well on and off for a lot of the time. So long story short I knew that truck driving was unhealthy to a degree but I figured I wasn't a complete glutton and slob so I would be ok. Within 9 months I was getting infections in my legs that would not heal. And scratch or anything would turn red and look bad. At one point I had to get a shot in my buttocks and oral antibiotics. A few months or more later I was in the hospital with both legs swollen twice their size with cellulitis in both legs. The doctor checked everything out and said you have to start wrapping your legs with ace bandages and elevating at night. I looked at him kind of puzzled thinking that sounded crazy. When he left nurse came in and said you don't need to do that, you just need to get compression socks. Crazy to think that that was my whole solution but it literally was and I probably could have saved my legs had I used them from the beginning. I never had a problem bad enough to end back up in the hospital over my legs while truck driving although it came close a couple times. So I did not weigh myself for 2 1/2 yrs after I started trucking. I weighed 250 lbs when I moved here. I was at my parents house one day and decided to step on the scale. I knew I put on weight and figured I'd probably went a little over the 40 or 50 lb I allotted myself to gain that I figure I could lose back easily down the line and I am over 6 ft 4 in so it wasn't really as much to me as it would be to other shorter people but I had no idea that when I'd get on the scale that I would be not only more than 60 or maybe 80 lbs at the most heavier but I'd actually gained 127 lbs!! I immediately started dieting and lost 50-60 lbs. And then I plateaued. I've generally stayed around 305 to 325 lbs The last 5 yrs. I also started having a lot of problems with my teeth. Come to find out later I had massive erosion and I was a grinder. In my sleep and sometimes even when I was awake. And I wasn't able to afford to go to the dentist for 15 yrs. And I was putting it off because I knew I needed massive work but wasn't going to be able to afford it anytime soon. So a few things happened where me and her kids were forced to move because our landlord sold his house. She was squabbling with me over really crazy things. We split up. Tried to reconcile. Got her into a 2 bedroom apartment and went from paying $1,000 a month for a 4 bedroom double wide on half an acre to paying $1679 for a two-bedroom apartment 3 1/2 yrs later. She splits up with me again. I talked about this in the video anyone wants to watch. A couple months later I quit my trucking job because I can't handle the bad times, the literal times for my 70-hour rule and making stops and pickups on time, etc AND the horrible time I'm having in life with my teeth bothering me and my supposed family leaving me and I'm just so out of shape and overweight and I need to get back on track. I developed a hernia over the years of driving. Probably from driving and gaining so much weight and so quickly. So I had to have her new surgery. I'm many times slower than I was just 3-4 short years ago. The first company I was with said I did a really good job for the first 9 months I was there and then I started having a lot of issues. That's when my sleep apnea got really bad. That's why I had to jump to a few different companies and start over which I hated doing. But I had to take care of my family. And that first company btw I was the only one in our class who they trained who stuck out my 12-month contract for them paying to train me. I stayed there for a year and a half. Throughout my whole time driving I had two minimal incidents, one that was my fault and one that wasn't. I hit the corner panel of my bumper and they put another one on in 45 minutes when I went back to the shop. Hit it on a curb. That was one company and at another or the first one I was at I was driving from one building to another that I was delivering at because I had to go to the other building to get the bill lading after getting loaded and my trailer door came on secured from bouncing down the road and the door swung open and caught a support cable for a power line. I was able to secure it and take the load back to our home yard and have the load switched from one trailer to another. Besides that never had one wreck or major incident. So anyways when I decided to take a break because I had to get my teeth fixed and I knew I needed to get in shape and get healthy and then get back to trucking. The dentist ended up talking me into getting a full crown restoration. My parents loaned me the money and it was $35k. So when I was working on getting settled back on the road I was doing some lawn work and stuff around the house and I hadn't slept good in a couple days and I developed cellulitis in my legs again. I'm very susceptible to cellulitis in my legs if I don't deal with them very carefully. And they both swelled up really big and I got some breaks in the skin I got really sore and I developed a good size venous ulcer on top of my foot. It oozed and filled with my shoe with exudate and I had to change the bandage daily and tried to work delivering food and help my parents keep up the house and try to work and keep up with bills. It soon got impossible and I fell behind on everything. I tried for 8 months to heal it on my own and it didn't work. Finally my parents forced me to go to the hospital and pretty much tell me what I already knew which is I had venous insufficiency in my legs and that I needed wound care. I told them I needed wound care but I couldn't afford it. My mom found a clinic that had a charity program that would pay for me. So 8 months into what we thought would be 3-4 months my dad passed away. He was getting the most social security and a pay out from the VA. He was going to help me get back on track and get back to truck driving. And I was going to pay him back immediately and pay off my teeth for which they had paid for temporarily for me. I've tried to catch up and came close one time and paid for a 3-month gym membership but I screwed up and instead of doing cardio only for hours a day like I should have done I thought if I hit the weights and did a little cardio that would be better. I made it two months with very little improvement and then couldn't afford to take the time off of work to go anymore. I cannot fit it in. I get too little done in a day, I'm too slow and out of breath and zero energy. The doctor tested my blood and gave me thyroid medicine because I do have an issue with that. And a vitamin e insufficiency. I work mostly at night time when I do work. So I've never been able to catch up and I never got to get healthier or lose weight and I feel miserable most of the time. I need this money to take 3 months to focus in near entirety on power walking 5 hrs a day 5 days a week minimum so I can lose 80 lbs minimum and get my strength and energy back. So I can get everything done in a day I need to and work and start building my life back. I need $300 minimum to fix my backup car and sell it for $1200 or more hopefully. I set the limit at $2K though in case people want to donate more and the car thing doesn't work out. I will pay back the money if you give me your cash app or email and keep track of everyone who donates. I will also match dollar for dollar afterwards and donate to a Christian charity or children's hospital. This is to incentivize donations and pay it forward what I've been helped. I'm trying to start going to an Eastern Orthodox church now. I want to start over in life for the last time and do everything the right way. 3rdinfantry115@gmail.com for email THANKS!
