My name is Ashton Best, and over the past few days my life has been turned upside down in ways I never could have imagined.

A brief video of an altercation outside my home was posted online and quickly went viral. Unfortunately, the video circulating online only shows a small portion of what actually happened and has created a narrative that does not reflect the full situation.

Before that clip began, I was being confronted and verbally harassed outside my own home. The situation escalated and multiple individuals returned to my residence yelling and threatening me. During this confrontation, one of the individuals physically assaulted me. Charges are being pursued.

Because of the way the situation has been portrayed online, the consequences have been devastating and immediate.

I have lost my job of four years. My home address was shared publicly online, which has led to people harassing and threatening both me and members of my family. Due to safety concerns, I have now been forced to leave my apartment before even being able to move in.

Everything has happened extremely fast, and I am now facing the reality of starting over while also trying to protect my safety and my family’s safety.

I am asking for help to cover:

• Emergency housing and relocation

• Legal expenses to protect myself and pursue justice for the assault

• Basic living expenses while I work to rebuild my life and employment

This situation has been overwhelming, and I never imagined I would be in a position where I needed to ask for help like this.
