For nearly two decades, I have had the incredible privilege and challenge of raising my twin daughters as a single mother. Every milestone they have achieved has been built through years of sacrifice, determination, and an unwavering belief that their dreams were worth fighting for.

Their journey has not been easy. Their father was deported to Mexico when they were young and has provided little financial, emotional, or parental support throughout their lives. While that created many obstacles, I made a promise that my daughters would never let those circumstances define their future.

There were countless days of working long hours, stretching every dollar, and putting their needs before my own. I covered their medical and dental care, school expenses, clothing, transportation, extracurricular activities, and the everyday costs of raising two remarkable young women. Like many single parents, I learned to make the impossible possible because giving up was never an option.

Today, I could not be prouder of who they have become.

Through years of hard work, perseverance, and determination, both of my daughters graduated high school while simultaneously earning their associate degrees through dual credit coursework. They refused to let obstacles stand in the way of their dreams and have worked tirelessly to build bright futures for themselves.

This fall, one daughter will begin her journey at the University of Houston, while her twin sister will attend the University of North Texas. Watching them pursue their dreams at two outstanding universities is a moment I have prayed for throughout their lives.

While I have worked tirelessly to provide every opportunity I could, the financial reality of sending two daughters to two different universities at the same time is overwhelming. We are now preparing for housing, books, school supplies, technology, transportation, and the many expenses that come with helping two first generation college students begin this exciting new chapter.
