This is the story of CHUCK KAYE - "The Roar Of L'Amour": A man in dire health, who is "the conduit of altruistic intention" - Newsbreak.com

Nicknamed THE ROAR OF L'AMOUR by Mike Tramp of White Lion, Chuck was the voice of the tri-state area metal community from 10/84-11/88 when he was the DJ, VJ, MC, talent coordinator and also promoter of about 60 nights a year at the legendary L'Amour in Brooklyn.

Featured on MTV/VH1, multiple radio stations and national magazines, Chuck was an omnipresence for the hard rock and metal community during the scenes height.

Chuck retired in 1990, but recently returned to tell behind the scenes stories on a L'Amour FB group page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/40715272648) of the defining era of the hard rock/metal scene that only a man in his position could.

During his storytelling, word got out of his declining health and battle staying alive. Facing struggles both physically and financially, the metal community is looking to give back to the legendary voice that still roars in our head.

Chuck was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation* on January 14th, 2020. After spending nineteen days (19) in ICU/Hospital, cardiologist determined he must have had A-Fib* for 5 years due to the severity. With an ejection fraction of only 10% (the amount of blood pumped out of a heart’s lower chambers each time it contracts), Chuck was not expected to live. After discharging 45 pounds of toxic fluid during that initial visit, Chuck has fought through homelessness, eviction and numerous ER/ICU/hospital stays and in April of 2025 (alone), he had three mini-strokes.*Atrial fibrillation (Afib) is an irregular heart rhythm that begins in your heart’s upper chambers (atria). Symptoms include fatigue, heart palpitations, trouble breathing and dizziness.
