My name is Zach and I am a senior Youth Ministry major at Cedarville University in Ohio. This past summer, I had the opportunity to go to Alaska and be a missionary camp counselor at Echo Ranch Bible Camp in order to fulfill my internship requirement to graduate this May (2019). Echo Ranch Bible Camp is not just a summer camp, it is a greenhouse preparing and teaching students how to defend their faith. Needless to say, my time in Alaska absolutely changed my life. While I was out there, I saw real hurt in a new way. From physical, mental, and sexual abuse, to struggles with pornography and identity, to suicide and depression, you name it I saw it. Every single week I got to work with different age groups, ages 7-18, and share the message of the gospel with them. I witnessed students come to know the Lord for the first time, as well as choose to kill sin instead of letting it kill them. Many of the relationships I made have continued even now, though I am in Ohio. After my time in Alaska, I realized that my future with Alaska is certainly something I desire. There are next to no youth pastors out there preaching the word faithfully and boldy, expecting God to show up and show off, which is why I have such a burning desire to be there now.
I have been praying deeply about what my future in Alaska might look like, and for now it seems as if God is directing me back to Echo Ranch to be the head guys counselor for the summer. Before I explain what that means, I want to share with you about the camp. Echo Ranch Bible Camp is completely run by missionaries. It is an umbrella ministry of Avant Missionary Organization. All of the full time staff at this camp are full time missionaries, and every single person that works there, full time or just summer staff must raise support in order to work there. As head guys counselor, I would not only have the opportunity to counsel students, but also disciple the counselors who are working alongside me. This position is one that will prepare me even more for future minsitry work, as I learn what it looks life to faithfully serve God in a position of leadership.
All this to say, I cannot get there without help. Funds include a pretty hefty fee to work there for the summer, plane tickets, room and board, food, and travel expenses while in Alaska. I will not be paid all summer as well, so usual fees on a daily basis are a need as well. As a result of my normal supporters being unable to help me out in this endeavor, this is where you come in. I am prayerfully seeking people like you who desire to see the word of God proclaimed throughout all the nations to help fund my way back to Alaska for the summer of 2019. As you consider supporting me, I urge you to consider the work that God is doing in the lives of the students in Southeast Alaska. I witnessed firsthand the ways in which God is moving, and that is why I have such a strong desire to go back and continue the work I started. From the moment I left this past summer, I knew I wanted to go back. I cannot do this without the help of outsiders who wish to see God's Kingdom grow. Who knows, maybe one day you will meet someone in heaven who I got to lead to Christ while in Alaska! Your donation will go such a long way, and I cannot thank you enough for your consideration.
May God be glorified in all we say, think, and do!
