Wells for Women provides freshwater wells for poverty-stricken villages in Bangladesh and supplies them with Bibles, too.

GOAL FOR APRIL: TWO WELLS FOR TWO VILLAGES

We call it Wells for Women although the wells greatly benefit the men and children, too. But as is true in much of the world, the burden of acquiring water typically falls on the women and so women will benefit the most from these wells. The health of EVERYONE in the village will improve and the survivability rate of children in particular will GREATLY increase as they stop consuming germ-contaminated muddy water and start consuming fresh, clean water.

$1,000 helps a village get a new well -- a village that has never had a freshwater well before. The wells actually cost $1,100 but the villagers themselves help some so that they have buy in from the start.

My Bengali friends also plant a church in each village they install a well in.

These radically improve the lives of these villagers!

Each village has 150 people on average, give or take a few. Most villagers live a daily subsistence with no savings.

Through individual and families donating, we've been able to install 20 wells and plant 20 churches in 20 villages so far. We'd like to do 20 more villages this year if possible. HUNDREDS of villages would like to have a well and eventually hopefully we can do hundreds.

Before one partner was paying $1,000 to provide a village well. But that was too high a cost for many partners. So now, we have the option of many donors making smaller gifts to get wells for the villages.

It looks like this:

20 donors giving $50 each funds a well.

10 donors giving $100 each funds a well.

4 donors giving $250 each funds a well.

2 donors giving $500 each each funds a well.

1 donors giving $1,000 each funds a well.

Our goal is to fund 20 wells this year. Our goal for April is TWO wells and two churches.
