At the end of the academic year, I requested a leave of absence from seminary formation to discern more deeply. This decision was the fruit of much prayer, conversation, and consultation with the Bishop and Vocations Director. I am very much at peace and am excited to see what the good Lord has in store for me during this year.
While discerning what to do during this year, Christ in the City was very much on my heart. I visited a friend there after Easter and my experience serving with them was incredible! As the year off from the seminary became reality, I asked myself - and the Lord - what I should do with this year. His answer was clear, so I applied to serve with Christ in the City!
Christ in the City is a missionary organization with the mission to know, love, and serve the poor. A few young people from around the country come together each year to serve in Denver, which has one of the highest homeless populations in the country. While in Denver, missionaries live in community; receive intellectual, spiritual, and human formation; and engage in pastoral work with "friends on the street," as they refer to those whom they serve.
I am overjoyed to have this opportunity to serve the poor, vulnerable, and outcast. Aware of the challenges that will surely be a part of this year, I am excited to see what God has in store for me and for those whom I will have the blessing and privilege of serving!
Before embarking on this journey, though, I'd like to ask you to partner with me on this mission. Together with your help, we will be able to bring Christ to the most vulnerable in society. Please consider:
- Keeping me, my fellow missionaries, and those we will serve in prayer! This is the most powerful way you can support us all!
- Supporting me personally. As I will be engaged in full-time ministry, I'll be unable to work to draw a salary. I would greatly appreciate your support - either one-time or monthly, as you are able - to cover personal costs and incidentals. Any left over money contributed for this support will be donated to Christ in the City.
No matter how you are able to support me in this mission, know that I am most grateful for your prayerful and fraternal support. The sustaining power of prayer is real! Thank you for taking the time to read this not so short update! Thank you as well for prayerfully considering supporting me in this exciting opportunity of service to the Lord and his beloved sons and daughters.
For more information on how to support me, to share any personal intentions you may have for which you would like me to pray, and to have me answer any questions you may have, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Know of my continued prayers for each of you! God bless you.
