Help Aaron Beat Brain Cancer

Campaign Created by: Jennifer Robinson

The funds from this campaign will be received by Jennifer Robinson.

Goal: USD $60,000
Raised: USD $ 47,408

My husband, Aaron, is in the fight of his life. He is 47 years old. We have two wonderful children—Jonah, 21 years old, who serves in the U.S. Army, and Kayla, 16 years old, just finished her junior year of high school.

Six years ago, life was going along beautifully. We were running our small business. We were involved with sports and active in our church. We were dreaming the dreams of any typical American family.

Then, the bottom fell out. On New Year’s Eve, 2016, doctors said Aaron had only three to 15 months to live.

“It’s brain cancer”

He was diagnosed on December 31, 2015, when, at the age of 40, an out-of-the-blue seizure and loss of consciousness sent him to the emergency room. That is when they found two large masses in his brain, each the size of lemons—so large that his brain had shifted to the right.

They performed a biopsy and found Stage 4 glioblastoma (GBM) and Stage 3 anaplastic astrocytoma (AA3). These are diffuse tumors, meaning very difficult to remove surgically. Despite the risk, Aaron did have the surgery, as the tumors were putting pressure on his brain. They removed as much of the tumors as possible, a six-hour procedure. Aaron was awake for nearly three hours of the operation.

The battle begins

Without treatment, GBM patients typically survive three to six months. With treatment currently available in the U.S., patients typically live an additional one to three years.

This prognosis was heartbreaking. Our kids were 10 and 14. We had (and still have) so many dreams ahead of us—in life, family, faith, business.

The options presented to us were simply not acceptable, so we looked elsewhere.

The most successful treatments that we could find were out of Mexico. We scrambled to raise over $43,000 to join the program.

We followed up with local oncologists to track the treatment’s success and got some good news: the protocol seemed to be working. For two years, scans showed “no new growth,” a real victory considering Aaron’s type of tumors.

Then, we were hit with bad news. In 2018, the treatments became unavailable in North America. By 2019, both tumors were growing again.

So, at the end of 2019, Aaron had a third brain surgery to remove as much tumor as possible. Not all of it was operable without affecting his speech. Sadly, the third procedure did affect his speech, and he has been struggling with it ever since.

The surgery also confirmed the presence of a third type of brain tumor—Oligodendroglioma, a cancer of the central nervous system that originates in the brain or spinal cord.

Fighting on

The battle continues. By the summer of 2021, the tumor was proving itself a formidable adversary. It had become inoperable.

However, a ray of sunshine has cast itself on the battlefield. There is an amazing clinic in Texas that has been helping patients with inoperable and incurable brain cancers for 45 years. The clinic suggests two protocols: one is in Phase III clinical trials; the other includes treatments already approved by the FDA.

The monthly cost of both protocols is high. Thankfully, we were able to get the approved medicines covered by insurance. The clinical trials, however, are out of pocket.

Meanwhile, the cost of our daily living is a constant worry. We have been battling brain cancer for six years now, and have had to continuously take time off from our small business to address Aaron’s health. Our family’s income is largely dependent on Aaron’s ability to work. We are thankful that he has been able to serve our clients while undergoing treatments. But since 2019, the tumors have grown to become large masses, and the treatments leave him tired, sore, and headachy. In addition, because the tumors are in the speech areas of his brain, he has been having a tough time communicating.

But we remain ever hopeful. Although the treatments have been a challenge both financially and physically, they seem to be working.

Strategy for health and healing

With God’s help, we have mapped out a plan. The remaining treatment costs $17,000 per month. In networking with other patients who have recovered from tumors similar to Aaron’s, we have determined that the average length of treatment is a year and a half.

Because Aaron’s cancer is a unique profile, it’s hard to know exactly how much time he has left of his treatment. The plan is to treat him until we see no signs of active cancer, and then push forward a few months longer to make sure the cancer is gone at the cellular level.

Aaron has been on the first protocol for seven months. Because it took a while to get insurance coverage, he has been on the second protocol for two months.

The math pencils out at $204,000 to cover approximately 12 months of treatment. It is a lot of money, no doubt. But our faith is deep and the benevolence of others is a fount of refreshment and strength.

Bring in the reinforcements

So, this is our ask. Please donate in any amount you can. This has been long, uphill battle, but one with many victories and rewards along the way.

It has been a special privilege to meet gracious and loving people and to raise awareness not only for our needs, but the needs of others. We hope to be an inspiration and resource for families who find themselves on a similar journey.

And here I conclude with a personal note. I am simply not capable of saving my husband, running our business and loving and launching our children all by myself. Most days I feel like I am at the end of my rope. I lean on God, on friends, on family, on new acquaintances and on perfect strangers who reach out with kind words and gestures of support.

We are so thankful for the generous donations and sincere prayers that have come our way.

We are ever-prayerful and hopeful. Thank you!

🎉 LAST DAY!!! Radiotherapy session #30 -

He is tired, hair on almost half of his head is gone, but he is done!!! We are exhausted & spent.

Next steps is rest for a few weeks, and then a baseline scan and follow ups.

We have much to be Thankful for!!! @teamaaronrobinson #beatbraincancer

25 down, 5 to go!!!
November 14, 2022
facebook twitter

Good evening, Team Aaron - thank you so much for covering us through these times. As of today, Aaron has completed 5 weeks of daily radiation and chemotherapy, and has only 1 week to go! That is 25 radiotherapy sessions down - 5 to go. We are on the final stretch!!!

Challenges

Although Aaron has been tolerating the treatments pretty well, and he is medically doing pretty good - he is still exhausted on every level - mentally & physically. He has lost most of the hair on a portion of the left side of his head - he pretty much wears a hat everywhere he goes. No other trimming since the mohawk - the skin on that side is too fragile from the radiation, so we will just leave it alone for now.

The radiotherapy picks up where the surgery couldn’t go – noninvasively - to get to the remaining tumor that was inoperable. It has been focusing on the tumor Aaron’s Parietal Lobe – the back left of his head, that was recently giving him the most trouble. The tumor in his Frontal Lobe seems to be stable. Radiotherapy does have its risks, and there are no guarantees, but we are hoping this will be the last intervention needed. It will most likely take Aaron weeks – months to recover from this round of treatments.

For the chemotherapy, Aaron will still need to do monthly cycles, 5 days on – 23 days off, for about a year.

Additionally, Aaron is currently taking 3, new, off-label medicines, and some expensive botanicals and supplements prescribed by Dr. Michael Castro. He’ll most likely have other ones for him to try as well, kind of like a science experiment. These do have anti-cancer benefits for Aaron, based on his specific genetics. However, they cause other symptoms that we have been managing. Although Aaron is almost done with this course of radiation, we are not sure how long Aaron will have to remain on these other protocols. We are still trying to gain clarity on what the plan is here. But we really enjoy working with Dr. Castro – he is a genius at the molecular biology of brain cancer. Having a consultation with him is like attending a university class on the subject.

Thank You

Thank you, everyone, who is covering all of us in prayer! Aaron's 7-year Brain Cancer Battle has taken its toll on our entire family, and we could not be where we are, if it weren't for you.

Thank you, to the local folks who have been helping us get Aaron to his medical appointments - only 5 more to go!

Thank you, to all the donors who have donated to Team Aaron. Although our financial need is not as high as it was earlier in the year, we do still have a good amount of uncovered medical costs, and are trying to catch up from being unable to work most of the summer. Please keep sharing Aaron's GoFundMe! (Which we will be updating soon) http://www.gofundme.com/help-aaron-beat-brain-cancer

Thank you to everyone who has signed up for our meal train! With all the anxiety and uncertainty Kayla & I have been struggling with, to have someone deliver us a family meal - even if via a delivery service or gift card – has been so spiritually comforting. To have quality family time together, to share a meal at our dinner table, making memories – that’s priceless. There are still some open slots to sign up for, please share the link! https://mealtrain.com/q52rqr

Thank you for all your love and support. We love you.

Blessings,

Jennifer Robinson

🎉 Half Way Done!!!
We are so thankful that this weekend marks the halfway point of Aaron’s Chemo & Radiation treatments - 3 weeks down, 3 to go!
Aaron’s hair started falling out on the left side of his head on Thursday, so this weekend I asked if I could buzz the right side to match - and make a Mohawk. What do you think?! Aaron & I are debating over this - please reply with your comments!
For Chemo & Radiation, Aaron is taking a pill (Temodar), 7 days/ week for 6 weeks, and then goes in for weekday radiation - 5 days/ week, for 6 weeks. He’s tolerating it all pretty well, but for sure feeling the radiation “working”. Fatigue and few of the neurological symptoms have slightly returned, but this is mostly due to the swelling that happens at the tumor during radiation. We are being told that he may get increasingly tired in the last 3 weeks, but visualizing all this working and killing off the remaining tumor.
In addition to the conventional, standard-of-care treatments, we are also continuing to work with Dr. Michael Castro. This is the out-of-network NeuroOncologist, that convinced Aaron he’s a good candidate for the standard of care, especially if he takes certain botanicals & off-label medicines, based on his genetics, to maximize his outcome. It is a lot of extra work, communication, coordination, and costs. We are thankful for all the extra help with meals, rides, donations, and prayers that have come in over the past few months. We could not have done this without your love and support.
We remain hopeful and are continuing to believe in Aaron’s miraculous healing, and can already testify that his outcome is miraculous!!!
We thank you and we love you!!!

Here is a picture of us celebrating Kayla’s 17th birthday with some family & friends a couple weeks ago - Aaron is at the far head of the table.

Good evening Team Aaron Prayer Warriors,

September was an amazing month of Recovery for Aaron! After surgery, hospital & rehab hospital, he was discharged to home health. Each week Aaron has been making significant progress! He’s now "graduated" from HH, and is on the wait list for outpatient therapy - mostly for Speech. They are using words like "apraxia" and "aphasia", which means the words are in there, just needs a little help getting out. However even in these areas he continues to improve. The numbness on the right side of his body has all but disappeared. He is even working on computer design again – maybe a slower pace than before, but still improving. All of this is completely miraculous! We are so thankful for you holding us up in prayers, thoughts, words and deeds. We could not have gotten through this time without you.

The next step is to treat the remaining tumors.

In August, Aaron & I consulted with Dr. Michael Castro, an out-of-network NeuroOncologist, who specializes in the biochemistry of brain tumors. He spent a lot of time reviewing Aaron’s 7-year case, and all of his genetics, and spent almost 2 hours explaining how Aaron is a great candidate for standard of care treatments. Especially if he adds in other therapeutic agents that come in the form of mega doses of botanicals and other supplements. After surgery in September, we met with (in-network) Radiation Oncologist Dr. Eugene Ahn, who showed us that Aaron is also a great candidate for eradicating the remaining tumor with radiotherapy.

We are so thankful for meeting both of these wonderful doctors, and have a peace about both of these suggested courses of treatment.

So, tomorrow Aaron will start daily Temodar (chemo) and 5x per week radiation treatments, which will go over a course of 6 weeks. This is in addition to taking the recommended therapeutic agents. We are believing in a healing outcome for Aaron.

Prayer Requests

  • Here’s our bold ask: Please pray that the treatments will remove all the remaining tumor - and that Aaron would have no short-term nor long-term side effects! One of the prayers I’ve been leaning into was spoken over the tumors: “From today, you’re not going to grow, you’re going to shrivel, and you will never return again.” Please join us in praying over Aaron’s healing, recovery & rehabilitation.
  • Please pray for wisdom for us & Aaron’s doctors.
  • Please pray that Aaron's spirit would remain encouraged. Please feel free to send him encouragement, whether through me or to him directly.
  • Even though we do have a peace about this, I happen to find myself nervous today. Please pray for my belief and trust, and that I would not be in bondage to any anxiety.
  • Please continue to pray for finances for our family, as our income has been suffering since Aaron has been unable to work this year. Thankfully a lot of Aaron's recent medical care has been covered by insurance, but we still have a good amount of out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Needs

  • Rides: As Aaron will have daily medical appointments, both in and out of town over the next 6 weeks, and isn’t currently able to drive, we could probably use help with rides for him.
  • Meals: Our church small group has set up a meal train, which would bless our family so much while Aaron is undergoing treatments - https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/q52rqr

Thank you for taking the time to read this update, and consider our Prayer Requests. I can testify that your prayers are carrying us through this difficult situation – God is giving us courage at each turn. We are humbled and forever thankful for you. We pray that God would carry you through your difficult situations, as we know God is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ever ask or imagine!

Much Love & Hugs,

Jennifer & Aaron Robinson

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20, NLT

(this is today's update, Aug 30)

Hello Team Aaron Prayer Warriors!

Thank you sooo much for covering Aaron in prayer! Aaron's surgery on Friday was AMAZING! The surgeon, Dr. Yu, estimates he was able to remove about 90% of Aaron’s tumor!!! That one was huge and causing a lot of problems. It had smushed one of his ventricals shut which is really tricky - he's been unable to drive, talk, use his dominant hand, and was having troubles standing/ walking. The attached picture shows the large tumor, the darker grey area on the bottom right, circled in yellow highlighter, looking as if from the back of his head.

Because of how tricky the surgery was, the surgeon called in one of the best Anesthesiologists in the area, Dr. Nakamura. Because they needed Aaron awake during a large portion of the procedure, she had to use a lot of different techniques to help him manage pain, which is causing a lot of post-operative swelling, bruising, and a little temporary paralysis. She has been great - she called us ahead of time, spent time with us the day of, and did follow ups afterwards in the hospital. Both Dr. Yu and Dr. Nakamura said Aaron did so great during the procedure - he was awake for an hour and a half - they said that may be a record! Thankfully this assisted Dr. Yu in removing so much. Please join us in Celebrating such an amazing miracle of how much tumor the Dr. was able to remove!!!

Please also continue to pray for quick recovery and healing for Aaron. Because so much was removed, Aaron still needs a lot of Occupational, Speech, and Physical Therapy, as all the swelling goes down, and all the reconnections are made. He has been doing a great job recovering and working with the therapists at Cedars-Sinai since Friday. Today we have arranged transport for Aaron to come a little closer home, to a Rehab Facility in our town. I am thankful that I won't have a 2-hour round trip commute each day now!

Please help us pray for and believe in 100% return of function. Please pray that Aaron would have a lot of encouragement, and that he would not get frustrated with the process. (Please feel free to send encouragement his way, through me).

Thank you again for your thoughts, love, prayers, and support – we appreciate you so much!

Much Love,

Jennifer & Aaron Robinson

August 26 Update - Surgery - "Don't Be Afraid"

(apologies this was from August 26 - I was having trouble uploading it)

Hello Prayer Warriors - Aaron will be having brain surgery #4 today, Friday, Aug 26. We feel good about this recent decision. Aaron has had so much swelling on the brain, that he has been unable to function. We have talked with all his doctors - even one from a few years ago, as well as a wonderful new consultation in Beverly Hills, and we are confident this is the next step for him.

Our Father, on his Throne of Grace, has been moving mountains, to defend us in our weakness, to cover us with courage, and teaching us to LIVE, even when our situation seems contrary. I could write forever all the ways He has been speaking to us lately, but that will have to wait for another time. We hope to glorify HIM.

I know many of us are facing various forms of trial and uncertainty, and I just want to encourage you, that He has already overcome. He prepares our paths ahead of us. He fights our battles for us - we just need to surrender and trust Him. He is Trustworthy.

Please pray for Dr. John Yu, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, that he would resect as much tumor as possible, while preserving Aaron's abilities to speak and move, and other functions. Please pray for our son, a newly deployed soldier, and our daughter, who just started her senior year in high school. Please pray for me - for all of us - that we would not fear.

On a side note, after multiple invitations, Aaron and I attended Revelation Church in Simi Valley, to try to be prayed over by Prophet Dr. Lovy Elias, who has a gift of asking for healing & deliverance. We opened our hearts, minds, and spirits, and attended a few weeks ago with a good friend. People drive and fly in from all over the country - and other countries - to attend these services. To our blessing, he called Aaron out of the crowd about halfway through prayer time. We had never met him, nor attended the church - he knew nothing about us. I took a 10-minute clip from the 4 hour service. Check it out when you have a few moments - https://youtu.be/9YkhPg6CJQs

My favorite quote, "Don't be afraid. It will be taken out, but you are not going to die."

All of your prayers completely bless us. Thank you for lifting us up. We are eternally grateful.

"The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." Exodus 14:14, NIV

Medical Fundraiser

Amazing news is that since Aaron started with the Burzynski Clinic Antineoplaston treatments in October, we have had enough donations come in to meet all of Aaron’s medical expenses through June!!! We are so thankful!!!

However, his monthly bill is still at $17,000 per month, and they will be asking for the next payment next week. We are trusting God the money will come in, but really do have that need right now - we are about $17,000 short for this month. The current plan is to continue treatment until scans show no sign of active tumor, then go a few months beyond that, just to be sure the aggressive cancer is gone at the cellular level.

Thank you again for all your prayers, thoughts, and support – they mean SO MUCH to Aaron & the rest of our family. We appreciate the friendship of Team Aaron & our Prayer Warrior Family. We love you!

Love,

Jennifer & Aaron Robinson

Aaron

Aaron’s June MRI was okay – while it did show some tumor growth, it appears that the newly added medicines seem to be slowing it down. For example, in the time between the February & April scans, there was a 17% increase in tumor size, and then between the April & June scans, there was only a 7% increase. He was able to add in most of the new meds in May, so we are hoping the smaller increase came right before that. His next scan is August 5, and we are optimistic for some great results!

Recently Aaron has had troubles again trying to take the 4th new medicine – the Votrient pill.  He has tried it 3 times now. He’s able to handle the others okay enough, but he feels this one really messes him up. So, for now, he is only taking what he can handle, and we'll reassess after the next scan.

This Tuesday, July 26, is his 5th Avastin Infusion. Aaron says he actually feels better after that medicine – it gives him relief from the pressure in his brain, so it helps him feel a bit "normal" for a few days.

This Wednesday, July 27, Aaron will be having the Hickman Catheter in his chest replaced at Los Robles Hospital. The current catheter has done pretty well, it’s lasted 8 months. However a couple weeks ago when I was working late, he called me to say that he was actually bleeding out of 1 of the 2 lines. He was able to get it to stop by clamping it off. This is a challenge for a couple of reasons – first of all the line goes into his Jugular Vein, thankfully it hasn’t bled since. The other reason is it’s always good to have a backup port, in case of closure, when you have the 6 Antineoplaston infusions a day. Thankfully his local Vascular Surgeon was able to fit him in. Sunday & Monday we go in for pre-op work, so by Wednesday we will for sure be ready for a break from hospitals again!

Income

We are in a really tough pickle, because our family & our business - Envision Avionics Panels - are still dependent on Aaron working to keep it going and make ends meet. He has been working on training our 2 employees to do what he does – quoting, designing, machining & interfacing with clients. In fact, he now actually needs them to do this on his behalf, because when Aaron is taking all the treatments, he really can no longer speak nor type well. His brain tumors are causing aphasia, and the right side of his body is starting to go numb – mostly in his right, dominant hand. This has been increasingly difficult and frustrating for him.

Thankfully Sam & Jonathan are very patient, listening to Aaron, waiting for him to try get the right words out. We are able to handle a certain flow of work, but Aaron really should be focusing more of his time on taking his treatments, and in the meantime, Envision Avionics Panels really needs new – if even temporary – leadership.

It has been wonderful to have a business Aaron enjoys working - we really love helping our clients and working with our employees and vendors, but we are having to choose between Aaron getting better, and keeping our business open. Right now we are working with our bookkeeper & CPA to put together a financial strategy to see if we can list it for sale.

UPDATES

Jonah

We are so thankful that we got to spend 2 weeks with our firstborn for his 21st birthday! He was able to come home for his leave, and he is going to go on his first overseas deployment  in just a few days. It is such a great opportunity for him - as a new Army Mom, I am trying to focus on this, and not on the fact of how much I will miss him! The current plans are for his deployment to be 9 months long, so we for sure look forward to reuniting with him in the spring!

Kayla

Kayla is about to start her senior year in high school. She is signed up to take a full load of academic classes, has a job she likes, good friends, and plays lots of volleyball. In fact, she has a great chance of getting an athletic scholarship to play in college - 1 offer in and we are hoping she'll have a few more soon. We have been encouraging her to go for it, and have been supporting her having lots of conversations with and playing in front of lots of recruiters. So, there are decisions and changes for her on the horizon.

Please Help my Husband Beat Brain Cancer!

Good morning Team Aaron - so much has been happening lately that I am only able to keep up without losing myself by following the Holy Spirit as He guides. However, I want to be better at this all the time anyways, so I am learning to be thankful for these tough times!

Aaron has his next scan today. Since we were finally able to get his first 2 Avastin Infusions (only have been asking for 7 months!), we are now hopeful that his new protocols will really start shrinking his brain tumors. He definitely feels it working, relieving pressure in his brain. Even though he daily feels some of the side effects of the 3 newest medicines (which actually are low doses of chemo working synergistically) - he feels that it will be worth it.

We strongly believe that Aaron is on the right course of treatment. Because he is fighting 3 types of brain cancers, in 2 large tumors, we are not sure how long it will take. The current plan is to take the course of treatments until there is no evidence of tumor left, and then take the treatments a few months beyond that, to make sure the active tumor is gone at the cellular level.

We are asking for another 12 months, but because we have been fighting this battle for 6 years, are at the end of our earthly resources. We are seeking Heavenly Resources. Because the cost of the treatments not covered by insurance is $17,000 per month - the math pencils out to be $204,000.

We have been given lots of great suggestions, and have an opportunity to reach out to media. I am working with some Communications/ Copywrite/ Editor friends to help get this launched. We possibly need to parlay the media outreach with some fundraising events - but don't have too much clear direction on that yet.

I am asking Jesus to "juggle all the balls" - because He does it much better than I.

Will you please pray for:

  1. That today's scan would show encouraging results!
  2. That Aaron & I would be given Heavenly Resources to help pay for his life-saving treatments.
  3. For wisdom & favor in media outreach and fundraiser events
  4. That we would be able to raise all the money Aaron needs to save his life!

We love you and are so thankful for your Prayers & Support!

Aaron & I are at Cedars-Sinai this morning for his 2nd Avastin infusion. So thankful for the local oncologists here, as well as the complicated guidance from Dr. Burzynski & team out of Houston. Please continue to pray for Aaron’s healing from stage 3 & 4 brain cancer, and wisdom for us in paying his continued expensive medical bills. 💗🙏🏻

Part 3 - 4/27 Team Aaron Robinson & Prayer Warriors – Updates & Needs

Needs
  • -We need to continue to raise the funds for Aaron’s treatments - $17,000 due each month! This is in addition to the care he’s receiving already covered by insurance. I am searching for Wisdom & Inspiration in how to raise funds – this cause is so worthy, as Aaron is an amazing husband, father, brother, son, & friend. The Burzynski Clinic is so unique and such a worthy cause - they are helping so many patients who are given a death sentence – many patients are surviving 20+ years later, and having kids & grandkids!
  • -Are you able to be generous, and sponsor a month’s worth of treatment? Or pledge to give a certain amount per month, for the next 3-6 months? Every little bit helps, even if it’s just $10, $100, or $1000 per month!
  • Would you - or anyone you know - be a good donor to do a matching gift promotion in May, June or July? This will generate excitement and momentum for Aaron.
  • -Would you – or anyone you know – be willing to host a fundraiser to benefit Aaron? We are open to any event that makes sense and can encourage all of Team Aaron Robinson!
  • -If you know of anyone interested in helping in Aaron’s business, Envision Avionics Panels, please call us for more information. We are thankful that, for the most part, Aaron has been able to work during a lot of the past 6 years, but our family’s income is dependent on his ability to work – as he is EAPanels’ Key Employee. He brings a unique & valuable expertise to the avionics industry for private aircraft, and his clients respect him. We are thankful for our 2 employees, who are willing to help however needed, and are continuing to take on new responsibilities. However, we need to continue to find other solutions. We’d like to train Aaron’s “replacement,” so that he can take time off to do his treatments and recover, and still provide a valuable service to the industry through EAPanels.
  • -Please share Aaron’s story and needs, as we continue to look to build Team Aaron Robinson Members, Partners, Donors, and Prayer Warriors.

Part 2 - 4/27 Team Aaron Robinson & Prayer Warriors – Updates & Needs

Aaron Update

Aaron has been on 1 of 2 of Dr. Burzynski’s suggested protocols since October, the Antineoplaston (ANP) Protocol. 6 infusions per day – biggest side effect is somnolence/ drowsiness, and sometimes ear pressure – as the infusions go right into his jugular vein. He usually “tastes” the ANP medicine when the infusion starts – it smells a bit like maple syrup to me! We adjust Aaron’s dosage and infusion rate based on any symptoms he’s struggling with, and are on calls with Dr. Burzynski and his team often for guidance.

For the past few months, Aaron has had increased difficulty communicating - speaking, writing & typing – he knows what he wants to say, just can’t get his mouth or hands to say it – aphasia. It is challenging his relationships, fellowship, and how he runs his business. He’s also had to adjust his medicine for some increased “focal” seizure activity – right side numbness in his hand and leg. Aaron’s April 13 scan revealed that it appears his high-grade tumor may be coming back.

The 2nd protocol that Dr. Burzynski suggests for Aaron is called the Gene Targeted Therapy (GTP), 4 medicines: Avastin, Sprycel, Afinitor & Votrient. This protocol would double our monthly medical expenses, so we have been working on ways to get as much covered by insurance as possible. The ANP has stabilized Aaron’s tumors, but now it is time to fight back with increased determination, and do whatever it takes to get him on the Gene Targeted Therapy.

We are working on switching Aaron’s local NeuroOncologist back to Cedars-Sinai, who is willing to work with Aaron on getting 3 of the 4 medicines for the 2nd Protocol. We are currently waiting to hear back from the right group over there for the insurance authorization and appeals processes.

Part 1 4/27 Team Aaron Robinson & Prayer Warriors – Updates & Needs

Happy Easter Team Aaron! We are so thankful that our God has overcome death – he is so amazing & good, even in our troubles we can look to Him and praise him - He gives us hope!

Please follow @TeamAaronRobinson on Facebook or Instagram, or our personal pages. Let us know what you think – we’d love to chat with you! (This picture here is from a couples retreat we did with Cornerstone Church Simi Valley & Francis Chan in 2000, 1 year married!)

Praises & Thanks

Aaron is completing his 6th month with the Burzynski Clinic – the treatments he’s wanted to do since we found the 2, golf-ball sized tumors in the left side of his brain, a little over 6 years ago. Of all our research over the years, from clinics around the globe, we have found many great protocols to heal from cancer. However, Dr Burzynski is the only one who has had the best success with incurable, inoperable & aggressive brain tumors. We are so thankful that Aaron can finally be under his care & wisdom – we feel like we have finally arrived to the final battle.

501c3

We have launched a 501c3 donation site for Aaron! If you know anyone who would like to help Aaron through a Non-Profit Organization, we have partnered with Setting Them Free, a 501c3. They help under-insured cancer and critically ill patients obtain necessary medical treatments through local and online fundraising campaigns. To donate, use the GoFundMe site we have set up for them. We then request reimbursement from them for Aaron’s expenses, which takes 30 days. So please do it soon and please share! https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-aaron-beat-brain-cancer-non-profit

Team Aaron Robinson - thank you so much for your prayers, thoughts, generosity & support! We just paid payment #5 of $17,000, for Aaron‘s medical care, & it was 100% fundraised! We are so thankful for you, it means more than you will ever know…
Please keep praying for favor as we are still searching for a local oncologist to give him the remaining off label meds he needs to be on, in addition to the Burzynski Antineoplaston Infusions. Please also continue to ask for wisdom in covering all these finances! Also please pray for Aaron & I as the treatments are making him extremely tired - he’s having difficulty talking, as well as some other neurological symptoms. Thank you!
