I’ve always wanted to go on a missions trip, and over the years my church provided opportunities to go. I always let fear get in the way… fear of flying, fear of leaving my family behind, fear of the costs especially in this economy. This time around I didn’t even entertain the idea of going to Kenya, a team had been put together and I thought another opportunity had passed. Then someone from my church came up to me and mentioned there was one seat left and believed it was for me. Fear gripped my heart, and I just wanted to say no immediately. In fact I planned to say no, but I felt in my heart the Lord wanted me to do this. I haven’t been working since I’ve been staying home with my toddler, and had a small amount saved enough to pay for half the trip. It seemed unreasonable, but I felt the Lord impress on my heart to trust Him, and that by taking this missions trip I was stepping into the unknown, and that it was time to experience life on the other side of fear. So I’ve put what I had saved towards the trip and the rest on a credit card. These funds will help me pay off what I had to put on my card, and help me buy the essentials I need for the trip as I don’t have much, and also help me prepare frozen meals and food that my family is going to need while I’m gone for 10 days. I know this is not an emergency but it will help me so much in the lead up to leaving to Kenya on August 10th and relieve the financial stress of what I had to put on a credit card that I never use, but also preparation for leaving my family.
