We are in the middle of a new civil rights movement, and Marian and Kati are determined to help lead Louisiana into a new era of freedom, accountability, and liberation.

This didn't begin in a boardroom.

It didn't begin with political insiders.

It began with listening.

People who are tired of feeling unheard. People who are tired of being told to wait their turn. People who are tired of watching their communities struggle while their voices go ignored.

Marian had already been in the fight for years. She had been volunteering, advocating, organizing, and standing up for the people of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She had already filed a recall petition against EBR mayor Sid Edwards which gained significant local recognition.

Eventually, she decided to ask a simple question:

"I can start a recall petition against Jeff Landry if yall want....I can have the petition filed by tomorrow."

The response was overwhelming.

It was a resounding YES.

So Marian made a promise to the people.

If they wanted someone willing to step forward, she would do it.

The decision was made.

She was going to file the recall.

The only thing she didn't know was who would stand beside her.

Then, just one day later, she met Kati.

As stated earlier, a few months after Marian filed her first petition against East Baton Rouge Mayor, Sid Edwards, the day after Marian made that promise to the people, Kati showed up to sign it. Like so many others, Kati believed something had to be done. But unlike many people, she wasn't just willing to sign her name. She was willing to work.

The next day, Marian asked Kati if she would join forces with her to lead a statewide effort, and she said yes.

Neither of them could have imagined what would happen next.

What started as two women determined to make a difference quickly grew into a movement reaching every corner of Louisiana. Volunteers began stepping forward. Leaders began organizing. Communities began mobilizing. People who had never been politically active before found themselves inspired to get involved.

Today, people across Louisiana and across the country are paying attention.

But what many don't see are the sacrifices being made behind the scenes.

The countless hours spent organizing.

The late nights and early mornings.

The travel.

The meetings.

The training.

The logistics.

The phone calls.

The problem solving.

The constant work required to build a movement from the ground up.

Kati turned down a job she was scheduled to begin because she believed this work was too important to divide her attention. Marian has set aside consistently paying client work and other opportunities because she believes the people of Louisiana deserve her full commitment during this moment.

Everything accomplished so far has been done through determination, volunteers, community support, donated supplies, and people willing to step up and help.

But now the movement is growing.

To continue traveling the state, supporting volunteers, organizing communities, educating voters, hosting events, creating outreach materials, and building the infrastructure necessary for long-term change, resources are needed.

This is a grassroots movement.

We are powered by everyday people.
