Blessings! My name is William Castro and I am one of many NYC Educators that have taken a stand against the unethical and unconstitutional vaccine mandates imposed on NYC Department of Education Employees. Individuals, including myself, who have given their all to NYC’s children and communities during the pandemic are being forced to decide between their Religious convictions and their careers/livelihood. Many have legitimate medical concerns, as well, and are being denied arbitrarily. With the Lord’s guidance, my family and I have decided to stand against these vaccine mandates and support others in any way we can in the fight for their medical freedom. People have put years into the system, worked during the height of the pandemic, put their lives at risk and did it with faith and honor, to only be told either you comply with the mandate or go! No one should ever feel forced to do something to their bodies at the risk of losing their jobs or livelihood. I believe this is an important fight and will have profound implications for the nation and the safeguarding of our constitutional rights to exercise our Religious beliefs freely without discrimination. I am putting it all on the line and I am part of a federal lawsuit (Kane vs. DiBlasio) suing the city, the Department of Education, and other responsible parties for upholding an unconstitutional and arbitrary Religious and Medical exemption process that has led to many educators losing their jobs and being placed on unpaid leave as a tactic to coerce us to take the vaccines regardless of our beliefs and medical histories. The giant I am facing is no match for the God we serve, but it is clear that it has its eyes set on our children and other wonderful states of this nation. I believe with all my heart I am standing, not only for my son, but for all the children and families who will face hard decisions. Regardless of what lies ahead, I believe wholeheartedly “…that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 KJV). With that said, my religious exemption was denied on October, 18, 2021, and as of October, 19, 2021, I have been placed on Leave Without Pay (LWOP) and this news couldn’t have come at a worse time. My wife and I have been trying to have a 2nd child, and praise the Lord, we found out that she is pregnant. Thankfully, I will be receiving my medical benefits, but I will have no source of income as I was the primary earner and provider of my family. I will not let the enemy rob this joyous occasion because of this season of uncertainty. I am trusting that God will provide and open new doors, according to His perfect plan for my family’s life, in Pennsylvania where I currently live. I don’t have a lot of money in savings and ANY support (and especially prayer) would be greatly appreciated during this transition my family is enduring.

Dear brothers and sisters,

I pray you are having a blessed Christmas season! I am writing you to share an amazing testimony! Last week, I was restored to my position and my Religious Exemption was granted by the City Panel. I couldn't have made it through this trial without all your support and prayers! You have helped me throughout this ordeal and with your support God provided food, shelter, and protection! I can't thank you all enough for the love you shared with me and my family.

My wife is moving along with the pregnancy and the baby is healthy and growing strong! We will never forget what God has done through you in our lives and we are continually praying for you and those who are in similar situations. We are standing with our other brothers and sisters in Christ believing that these unjust mandates will come to an end. Thank you once again and may the Lord bless you all richly!

Dear brothers and sisters,

I pray you are all well. I am writing you encouraged and filled with faith and hope that God is on the verge of making a mighty move in NYC that will reflect His justice and will.

Today, our lawyers argued before the United States 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. The hearing went well, and the NYC DOE lawyers admitted that NYC acted unconstitutionally regarding the religious exemption process. At this time the judges have not made a ruling but asked our lawyers to follow up with additional documentation regarding possible relief as the case moves along through the court. Our lawyers will submit what was requested by 1pm tomorrow, November 11th, 2021, and we should expect a decision from the judges by Friday or Monday. Please continue to lift us up in prayer and ask God to grant the lawyers fighting for us continued wisdom and clarity. Also, pray that the Lord will touch the hearts of the judges and give them boldness to make the just decision. I would also like to take a moment to share the following verse:

"When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers" (Proverbs 21:15 ESV).

Our prayer is that God's justice will sweep across this nation and these unjust and immoral mandates will end.

My family feels so blessed to know that you have all been supporting us with your gifts and your prayers! Thank you again for your love and support. I will keep you updated with any new developments.

Update #2

Dear brothers and sisters,

I hope you are all doing well. I am so thankful to God for your generosity and love! I wanted to provide you with a quick update related to the federal lawsuit filed on behalf of NYC educators, including myself, to seek relief related to the vaccine mandate and the arbitrary religious and medical exemption process we have been subjected to. Last week, our lawyer filed a motion with the 2nd Circuit to seek a preliminary injunction. Unfortunately, the judge denied the motion. However, we were informed by the lawyer representing us in the case that the judge granted an expedited briefing. The city lawyers will have to file their opposition by November 2nd, 2021, and our lawyer will reply by November 5th, 2021. It appears that many judges are feeling tremendous political pressure around this issue and are most likely afraid to make a decision against the status quo. But I am reminded of a parable in the bible that reads:

And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, “Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’ And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect [emphasis added], who cry to him day and night?” Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. (Luke 8:3-8 ESV)

I am holding onto this word and believing that God has perfect timing and His justice will prevail and guide those who rule in the earthly court system. Please join me in prayer and fasting this week, as many different lawsuits that are being brought, not only in NYC, but across the country reach their respective judges. My prayer is that God will give these judges wisdom, bravery, touch their hearts, and restore and reaffirm the freedoms that were founded in this nation. Amen!

Dear brothers and sisters,

On behalf of the Castro family, I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support! I am praying that God will move swiftly and that all the believers going through this trial will be filled with the Holy Spirit and may God's grace abound in every area of their life. I never imagined we would be in this situation but I know God will move and His justice will prevail. The lawyer fighting our case will be filing for an appeal with the 2nd Circuit this week. Please lift that case up in your prayers! Many believe the efforts in the court our futile, but I know where it seems impossible with man, it is more than possible with our God, who is the supreme judge of all. Lord, please have mercy on this nation and protect our children! Amen!
