It's a funny thing that happens when you finally make the decision to lay your life down for the Lord. You know, when you make the choice to walk on the path that he has laid out for you and not on the one you had envisioned for yourself. I have found our family doing things that I never would have imagined, things that are completely beyond our own ability-emotionally, physically, and financially, things that are honestly terrifying for so many reasons. Our family has decided to follow God's call to care for the orphans of the world. We choose not to see borders as hinderances. We have chosen to love beyond our borders all the way to Ukraine. I have learned a few things a long the way, some very important things.
-God is so gracious and his love never fails. Seriously, NEVER FAILS!!
-My weakness is God's strength. It's absolutely amazing to see how he shines in my darkest times.
-The minute, and I mean the very minute, I said, "God, I'm yours, I'm ready and I'm available for your use." my life changed. I started to see a purpose in all of it.
-When you make yourself available for God, he makes moments available to you. Small, everyday, simple moments start to shimmer with HIS glory.
-NOTHING I do is without purpose, NOTHING I accomplish is without reason, and NONE of it has been or will be done, because of my own ability! ALL the glory goes to God.
-Where there is a will, there is always a way. It may require some work on your part, but God will always provide the way. He will call on his people to be his hands, and feet. Whether it be to give or to go, God will be the one to tell you. Listen, to where he is leading your heart and please follow.
One thing I consistently pray for is that our journey with hosting and now adoption will be an inspiration to others. I pray that God will use us, to bring countless children home. I pray that God will use us as the path for others to do his work. I pray that, that one simple "yes" back in the spring will be multiplied and turned into a multitude of yes's and a ministry anointed by God to inspire other families to follow their calling and push the fear out. I pray that with our help, God's abandoned children will accept their destiny and redirect their feet to walk on the path of righteousness. I pray that others will be able to see the work God is doing with us and these orphans, and that after, they will believe that through God anything is possible. Because the truth is, through God ANYTHING is possible!!
Fundraising is uncomfortable to me, I don't like the feeling of asking for money. But, that's where I am wrong. Fundraising for an adoption is not simply asking for others to give us money. It is asking for others to follow God's will for the good of these 3 children's lives. It is asking for your support in bringing our children home, children that only God knew from the beginning, were made for our family. It is asking for you to be apart of a beautiful story, a rescue if you will. A rescue from a war torn country, a country that has no opportunity for orphaned youth. A rescue from the reality of living life alone, scared and hungry. A rescue from human trafficking, drug and alcohol addiction, and a life in prison. Sadly, this is often the reality of the lives of grown orphaned children in Ukraine. It is asking that you will stop speaking of the Bible and God's good will and actually start LIVING it. We all talk about wanting change for the good, well let me tell you my friend, change comes when God's instruction stops being a fantasy in your life and becomes a reality. Everyone of us walking this earth has an invitation to do great things. When are you going to accept yours?
Will you please help bring these children come home forever to lavish in the comforts of God's love and the comforts of family?
