For years we've had a heart for adoption. Nearly three years ago, we brought our son Lukas home from Bulgaria. Since then, our hearts have still pulled toward the children in need.
Recently, we saw the picture of two brothers in Eastern Europe who are 13 and 10 years old. Older children, especially boys, tend to be overlooked for adoption. And once they reach the age of 16, they age out and are unable to be adopted. No family. No support to face the world. Some kids end up on the streets, selling drugs to make money. And after seeing their pictures and videos, and looking through their files, we felt God calling us again.
Of course, the thought is overwhelming in many ways. We have to really compensate for space in our house and even do some remodeling to make it work. The big difference this time, compared to the last time we adopted, is that this time we have no money saved and nothing to give for an expensive adoption.
But we know that God provides.
We have taken our first step of faith, knowing that God will need to provide everything for us this journey. And even though we are not gifted in fundraising or promotion, we are moving forward knowing that if this is truly what He wants, God will open the doors and move those massive, daunting, mountains.
The bigger challenge is that this adoption will progress much more quickly than our last one. Just to get the ball rolling, we will need over $5,000. And because the whole process is quicker, that means that the money, approximately $40,000, will be needed potentially in less than a year.
Sometimes it takes a village to see a dream fulfilled. So we are stepping out in complete faith that God will provide. Please consider partnering with us to bring two boys home to our family.
